My friend heard at about 7 pm (CST) tonight that he was denied. According to him the email said there were 2045 applicants this year.
  2. This clearly reeks of a graduate admissions counselor. SFAI is a disaster don't go there I have heard nothing but terrible things about their program for the last couple years. I have made that"45 minute" walk several times and while it is not scary... I wouldn't do it alone at night. CCA on the other hand has not only been producing some of my favorite young artists the last few years, it has also been making amazing contributions to the field at large.
  3. I am one of the students at the lunch you discussed. How could we have been more specific about the work we're making? Were you looking for physical descriptions of our studio work? I'm interested to know so that I can be sure to suggest a different approach next spring.

I just took a peak at posts from last year and it looks like rejection emails were sent between April 1st and 3rd. So we should find out if we've be rejected tomorrow or within the next couple days. They had 2000 applications last year (3.25% acceptance rate). This year I can only imagine the number went up. Good luck to everyone.
  5. Final decisions almost complete: SAIC FIBER: Accepted MICA Mt. Royal: Wait listed until April 13th VCU FIBER: Was on the wait list but denied via phone call yesterday. SMFA: Accepted MassArt 3D: Interviewed this week (Look good??) Now we move on to the money portion of this process. Oh boy.
  6. Apply for fiber/material studies and interdisciplinary programs. SAIC (Fiber) -Accepted SMFA-Accepted MassArt (2D/Fiber)- Interview 3/23 VCU (Fiber) -Waiting List, apparently they only accept 2 MFA students per year. MICA (Mt Royal) -I haven't heard anything from them. Has any heard from MICA? I heard that they are mailing out letters on the 20th but who knows.
  7. I know from a friend in the SVA Administration that SVA has zero scholarships. The second-year MFA show was last weekend and the work was fantastic. Several great painters and 3D people.
  8. Good luck at ICP. That program is underrated and Nayland Blake is amazing.
  9. SAIC FIBER called and I got in! 18 out of 130 got offers this year.
  10. They sent snail mail to schedule an interview in early Feb. There were about 30ish people interviewing and another ten or so they talked to on the phone. Ten slots are available in the department (2 post-bac spots) and what they said was the highest number applicants ever. The people I talked to at the interview were amazing. Several were from post-bac programs at competitive schools like MICA and SMFA. They said they will send out letters at the end of the month but the other grads told me they will call this week if you're in. Sorry to hear you were invested in that program. It is amazing and I would encourage you to contact other members of the department about applying next year. The SAIC Fibers department is full of very generous and warm faculty.
  11. VCU (Fiber) No Response SAIC (Fiber) Interviewed this Weekend MassArt (3D) Interview 3.23.2009 SMFA Accepted 3.8.2009 MICA (Mount Royal) No Response [i did a self-scheduled interview with Frances on 2.6.2009]
  12. -SAIC (Fiber) held all their MFA interviews this weekend. -I have been accepted to School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (SMFA). -Apparently CalArts has made the first cut too. -I applied to Fiber and Material Studies at VCU and met someone at SAIC interviews that had been accepted there. So if you haven't heard you're probably out. She had also been accepted to Cranbrook. -I also have an interview at MassArt (3D) but have know that other departments (Photo) have made up their minds already. -No word from MICA. -Didn't apply to UPENN but my friend has been accepted to the MFA Photo department.
