  1. Me four. And remember, UVa trickles out a bunch over the last two weeks of February.
  2. Honestly, GWU is the place to be for studying the crossroads of media analysis and political science/public affairs. Sure, it is expensive, but there is a lot to be said about this program. MA's are not at all worthless, particularly in a subfield like that which has practical applications if you want to work for the likes of Pew or for the federal government or similar organization in a planning capacity.
  3. Man, this is not your luck with the funding. But don't worry. Accepts are all good signs. You still have places to hear from and three admits with the possibility of funding....these are good odds.
  4. The recent Johns Hopkins admit on the board...."they are all coming now"?
  5. Ugh, I wasn't ready for Johns Hopkins to start coming out...now I'm just clamming up again.
  6. Ok, de-clench and relax a bit. None of those except Maryland have fully reported (mostly not expected until at least next week historically). Breathe!
  7. So....NYU is the obvious choice on your list....right? Congrats!
  8. Cornell acceptance up... Edit: Spelling (smh)
  9. Don't hold your breath on UVa updated through the applyyourself system, is my understanding of it from a friend who went there for an MA a couple of years back. All done through email. And yea, I saw GWU's notice that shit was under review and I thought "what unusually lovely admissions people."
  10. Eeeeeeeveryone. No, but I really would love UVa to finish up their first main wave of admits today. Perhaps more news on Stanford? Also, @upam, you have had one hell of a cycle so far, if you don't mind me saying. Congrats on the spread.
  11. Congrats to all the awesome (and really diverse, no?) set of admits from yesterday! Today will likely be eventful.....hold the line, keep strong.
  12. Applied to each of those without funding requests? That shouldn't actually prevent them from considering you (indeed, UVa will only admit you if they can fund you), but it might stand you in pretty good stead at GWU. Funding is often an issue at the DC schools and not needing internal support could make you more attractive.
  13. UVa rolling out slowly (first fellowship offers are out, but first main wave of admits and then rejections are not) and GWU likely won't release until at least next week. There is a historical slight possibility we'd hear from GWU tomorrow....but it seems unlikely.
  14. Why six am? Hang on...just saw latest post. May just not have posted until this morning? It seems like the cluster of admits (if not trolling) was yesterday afternoon/evening. Edit: I do suspect trolling though. Light the torches and grab pitchforks...?
  15. I'm really not sure you want a PhD in Polisci for that unless it is in public policy or from a DC school (or similarly policy-focused institution). But a regional comparative focus could let you land a gig in particular State offices and IR with a disciplinary focus on something like proliferation or development might (if practical enough (not theoretical)) get you the same for those offices. Treasury might be possible with an American focus that includes trade theory or something, but an economics degree is probably more up their alley.
  16. They could have meant the act of admitting you - like, matriculation. But still, that is an odd choice of words. They have to accept more than that.
  17. What subfield for the UVa admits? Anyone?
  18. Schools be playin' with my heartstrings today...
  19. Yea the slow response is what worries me. Still....to my reckoning, they have yet to actually send out a full first wave of acceptances (a few fellowship offers notwithstanding). Should be this week, I'd think.
  20. And where the hey is UVa? (dude, that rhymed)
  21. Solid red on the board. What a sad day. Here's to better days ahead!
  22. It is definitely a multi-week process...committee meetings are definitely multiple days...but I think at this point we are likely just talking about one main final meeting in which the adcom makes primary choices for admittance and then a small secondary one (maybe) if they have to seriously turn to the wait list.
  23. Purely guesswork here but...do we figure that programs stay away from letting people know at the beginnings of weeks?
  24. Has anyone else's Johns Hopkins status remained at Incomplete the whole time, despite clearly having everything in? That department just will not respond...
