I emailed the GRFP general info address about whether the sequester will impact the number of awards, and I got this response - Thank you for your e-mail. To date we have not received any information about the impact of the sequester on the GRFP.

Anybody know if sequestration is going to have an effect on the number of fellowships awarded? Apparently the NSF's budget could be cut by 586 million, hard to imagine they wouldn't cut back on the GRFP fund too...

Apparently the formatting guidelines for this years proposed research essay are different that previous years - "Format: Introduction and problem statement, hypothesis, methods to test hypothesis, anticipated results or findings, expected significance and broader impacts, and a short list of important literature citations. If you have not formulated a research plan, your statement should include a description of a research topic that interests you and how you might conduct research on that topic." Are we supposed to have explicit headings for each of these categories? Or do we just need to include everything in this order?

So just to be clear, we don't need to include the title and keywords in the actual Proposed Research document? Anyone have experience doing this?

So my PhD advisor forgot to submit her reference letter by the deadline last night, despite me reminding her multiple times in person and via email. She's currently trying to contact people to see if she can still submit it. Anyone have something similar happen to them? Can reference letters be submitted after the deadline, or am I SOL?
