  1. Oh, thank God!!! I thought it was just me...
  2. Thank you guys! I guess you are right. I won't lose anything by applying. Today, I noticed that he has made some fancy changes to his website which clearly tells me he is not "super busy". Actually, I am kind of irritated. Although I was initially very enthusiastic about this guy and his research, I now have serious doubts that I will want to accept his possible offer. I will probably wait for a few more days and then make a decision.
  3. Thank you very much. Wow! I guess Nuclear Engineering at UW-Madison is like ECE at Stanford!!! I will try contacting the faculty next week to see if I can secure an RA position. One of them I contacted before I applied told me that the results of their proposals will be determined during Spring semester. I wonder when exactly are the faculty usually notified of their proposal results, is it in Jan, Feb, or Mar? Unfortunately, TA positions are not fair game to everyone in many schools. They have a "policy" not to offer TA positions to first-year international students, but I am happy to hear that this is not the case at UW-Madison. I will ask them tomorrow about the "Speak Test". I hope they accept my TOEFL speaking score instead. Hope you'll get in, although I am guessing you have applied to better schools too!
  4. I recently got an unofficial notification acceptance from ECE dept. at UW-Madison. The letter says that decisions regarding financial aid will be sent out later but I am kind of worried. Does anybody have any prior experience with the way ECE dept. works? I mean, what percentage of admitted students ultimately receive funding? Another question: the letter says that non-native speakers will have to report Speak Test scores in order to be considered for TA positions. Again, does anybody know whether or not ECE has a policy to offer TA positions to first-year international student?
  5. So I contacted a professor at a Canadian university back in Nov. about my interest in joining his research group for Fall 2012. He seemed quite excited about my record. We talked over phone in early Dec and discussed the possibilities for future projects. We exchanged a few emails after the interview in which he mentioned that he would be making a decision by Jan 15th. During this time, I sent him another email with an update in my resume but did not get any response. I emailed him again on Jan 16th asking if I am still being considered, but again nothing. Now, the application deadline is approaching and I have to make my decision whether or not to apply. I understand that I may not stand a big chance with this professor but I don't want to ruin it completely by nagging him to answer. How many days do you think I should wait before I send him another email? And, do you think it is a good idea to give him a call?
  6. LOL!!! Well, I take it as an early rejection, it hurts less this way!
  7. Thank you guys They said they would not accept applications after the deadline and that I can apply for Fall 2013 like I did not know that already!!! Strangely, I am not that disappointed although I liked Princeton very much...
  8. I had completed my application for Princeton, uploaded all the material, had my recommendation letters submitted and my scores reported a long time ago, but left the final submission and payment for later. The deadline was due on Dec 31. OK, I know I should have done it before the deadline, but all the other schools I had applied for would close leave their application website open for a few additional days. On Jan 1, when I tried to complete the application, I realized that it was too late:( Has anyone else had such an experience? Could you share what you did and if you got to submit a late application?
