  1. Such a good feeling! Good luck to you and everyone else who is applying this season!

I've submitted 3 applications so far, none are complete yet because of two out of three letter writers and I haven't sent GRE scores yet. Most conversations with professors are just about settled down with the exception of letting them know when I have an application submitted. Currently though almost all my attention has been going toward the NSF GRFP application.

you should apply to Harvard too! We have a great evo devo program! :)

  2. If you have not been contacted and offered interviews at this point in time, you have been rejected from the university. Sorry to say, but as an international with average stats, it's going to be very hard for you! :( I would try to work on your sop, experience, and try to publish before re-applying next year. Good luck to you!

  3. This just came in! Woohoo!

"The admissions committee for the graduate program in Molecules, Cells and Organisms in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is pleased to invite you to visit Harvard University in Cambridge, MA for an interview and to participate in our on-campus recruitment events.

Your visit is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, February 15 through Saturday morning, February 18."

YAY! Me too! Although they offered me Feb 1st through the 4th, but I am otherwise interviewing elsewhere :( - so, i'll see you on the 15th! cheers

  7. You likely have a chance - where did you apply?

You might want to gain more experience though, 6 months is barely enPugh time to know where reagents are in a lab ;) good luck!

Hi i have applied to five Neruoscience PhD programs,.. i just wanted to know if i had any chances of gettin in .. my current g.p.a is 3.7 and my cumulative g.pa is 3.4 i have been a part of two research projects and have 6 months experience in the research labs .My gre is on the low side 149 V 149 Q 3.5 a.w .Its 7th jan and i havent heard from any universities i applied to yet except emory telling me that my name isnt there in the inerview list :S.Kindly help me out.

  8. I would guess that to get into top schools you need at least a 3.0, and 3.5 in your major, AND have a publication. Although, if you get a top level publication (cell, nat, sci) with middle authorship and your letters are stellar, you probably could do without any masters work,

Where are you applying, and how low is gpa?

    Good luck!

  9. Thanks so much! I was getting worried, but this is great to know. Good luck!

I called Harvard BBS right before Christmas and they said they'd start sending emails out hopefully by January 13 and that no more invites will be sent after January 20. If anyone is wondering about MIT Biology, they emailed me back saying: "The faculty admissions committee is in the process of reading applications now. This continues until the first week of January when they will meet and make admissions decisions."

  10. Congrats on your interviews! I got a phone call from Stanford Dec 19th inviting me for an interview. Waiting on Harvard and NIH oxcam now!

Thanks for the kind words, I count myself pretty lucky.

Berkeley was MCB and UCSF was TETRAD.

I'm new to the forums and am still finding my way around. Anyone know if Stanford has issued interview invites yet? And is there an easy way to look something like that up on the forums?
