  1. The question is that, in general, which option is better: Master with thesis (McGill) or without thesis (U of Toronto). As far as I know, the difference between MASc (with thesis) and MEng (without thesis) is that one is more research-oriented, the latter is more course-oriented. Completing a thesis is a requirement for most PhD applications I would be interested. Thesis seems to be important for a R&D job, but not too necessary in other engineering fields. How do salaries differ between these 2 degrees? Without a thesis, the degree could be done in 1 year instead of the typical 2 years. McGill gives more funding than U of T in this case (the latter only covers tuition fees). Due to the earlier deadline, I already accepted McGill's offer. Should I even consider U of T's offer at this point of time? The reason I ask is because I prefer Toronto over Montreal as a city and the shorter length (1 year vs 2 years) of the degree.
  2. Voidness, Someone told me about it weeks ago. Please refer to the following post: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=15070&start=105#p78973 My thought is they are hungry for more application fees
  3. Thanks for the replies My status for UBC and U of T (University of Toronto) haven't changed. At this time, I am taking it as waitlisted... Congratulations for those who got in. You better do very well there because you take my place (Yeah, if you choose to accept).
  4. It takes on average 2 years full-time. My McGill prof. mentioned funding 10K-20K CND per I don't know what period (but I guess he wasn't sure because the project I chose was a new one?). Possible TA work was mentioned. From what I remember, Quebec tuition is one of the lowest in America, which is good. Some job postings say master/phd applicants are preferred, but during my 2 internships I found graduate studies aren't that useful. Maybe I should try to do it part-time (if I can find a job, yeah)? I don't wanna be too busy though...
  5. Should I go for an ECE master or keep looking for jobs? (Knowing it's tough to find a job nowaday...) Anyone with an ECE bachelor degree found a job in Canada? Could you share more details about it please?
  6. *hug* I am waiting for UBC's response as I write (application status: circulating) and at this time I am expecting a rejection. Come on, just give it to me, now!
  7. Anyone receives news from UBC or U of T (MASc program)? UBC automatic e-mail says that most accepted applicants are contacted in late-Feb and early-Mar, but my status is still "circulating" as I write. U of T status is always "application received." I applied to U of T in late-Feb though because they extended the deadline (now they extend it again, what the...?)
