That is so interesting, sounds like a great project. I am actually writing a chapter on parlor games- my dissertation is an art historical study of game play in 15th and 16th century Northern Italy.

I finally called Rachel and asked about Italy. She said we would probably hear back early next week because the commission offices are closed, and they need authorization from the commission to send out the notices. So they know, they just can't tell us. UGH!

I've been wanting to call but since I'm in Italy it is expensive/impractical. I'm giving them until Tuesday, and if we don't hear back by then I'll call because I'll be back in the US.

I am getting married this summer, and while my fiance would be open to coming with me, it seems really difficult to get a work visa in Italy. Even though the prospect of leaving him (and my dog) for 9 months isn't going to be easy, we've been a part for up to 4 months before. He moved with me to grad school and has supported me all the way, so if (fingers crossed) I get the Fulbright then I know he won it too. You can make it work. The worst thing is that I can't explain to my dog why I'm leaving, and my fiance says my dog mopes around the house for weeks after I leave. Anyone else sad to leave pets behind lol?

Ugh- I had put the Fulbright out of my mind since I'm over here in Italy and had just accepted that I wouldn't be able to check the mail. Email is so much more convenient, but nerve wracking! And I don’t have high hopes for Italy to respond quickly…
