@firebird24 Lol don't worry. I live my life in hyperbole. And thanks for the vote of confidence! I've already strong-armed some people that used to do ed interviews at other institutions to mock interview me. I'll just have to do my best and we'll go from there

Yup same weekend. And hey we all know if cardiac arrest gets us a fully funded admit most of us would be fine with it (wow this is why my friends think I'm kinda crazy about this whole "PhD thing"). Whew I'm waiting for the schedule too. Not gonna lie, I started thinking maybe they called the wrong lilgreycells and that's why I haven't gotten an email yet... Nice to know we're in the same boat. As we get closer to the date we can PM so we can say hi! I'm not sure how much inter-departmental action will be occuring over the weekend but it's always nice to know a friendly face. No clue who that is but don't be too down! You never know the exact order of how they will evaluate and notify for decisions.

So more than likely in one of my fevered "must discover timeline for when I will be notified" excursions I jumbled up the dates for Harvard. 2010 is around the 26th and 2011 is around the 24th (looking at the HGSE 201x threads in the ed section). So mea culpa!

Got a phone call from Vandy tonight inviting me to the interview weekend So I guess different departments at Peabody are sending out invites at different times. Probably to help send me in to cardiac arrest. Good luck to all who applied!!

I also applied to Harvard's QPAE. Looking at previous threads it appears that Harvard generally calls admits the 3rd Friday of February. Can't remember where I read that (I'll investigate later and if it was for a different discipline I'll throw a mea culpa out there). Good luck to all of us

Ah a fellow southeaster! Wow you're applying to a lot of places with tons of snow. I bow down to you in awe. Woohoo congratulations!

Don't feel bad! You should be proud of your accomplishments! Plus, you're helping us all out by letting us know they've started notifying. I spoke with someone at Vandy who let me know that the invites were being approved by the Dean at the beginning of this week. So I knew they would be coming out sometime this week or next. With all that being said, if I get an invite at some point in the future awesome but I'm not going to beat myself up over it anymore. Congrats on the invitation to the PhD weekend and I hope it goes well!!

Oo I always enjoy staying in when it's raining/snowing. Though I live where 3-4 inches of snow causes all the bread and milk in the grocery store to disappear so I might think of snow differently in Chicago And thanks for the well wishes! I applied to the Higher Ed program. I visited this summer and really enjoyed what I saw of the campus. I'll definitely make sure to update you after the weekend. I can make sure I take copious notes on the Soc and Ed program and just tell them it's for a friend

Awesome news FutureEdStudent12!!!! Yea I read on the blog today that Penn isn't backed up this year so you should have a decision within 4 weeks. As for the acceptance part, I haven't been accepted yet (we're saying yet so I can keep putting positive vibes out there). For doc students, Penn invites applicants for an interview weekend and then decides their admissions decisions. So I've just been talking about being invited to the weekend which I was notified of via email. Hope that helped clairfy and gah I get the anxiety. But dude it's Friday!!! Try to go out or relax or just chat with some friends about anything but this terrible, crippling process Good luck on your application season!

I completely understand how you feel. The reason I lurked instead of creating an account was to try and keep some distance from this site. I'm normally pretty calm and collected but last night when I saw an interview go out to the Special Education PhD at Vanderbilt I FREAKED.OUT. And that's not even my program area. Called my mom at midnight asking if I could just quit my job and move in with her and my dad again since I wouldn't be getting a PhD anytime soon. All I'll say is you've done your best and that's all you can ask of yourself ya know? And yes I understand that doesn't help much (I felt the same way when my mom said it to me last night). Try to stay positive if you can though, maybe do something you really enjoy (movies, reading, etc). Hope this can help in some way!

First off congrats to everyone who has gotten an interview or acceptance!! I've been lurking for a while and figured I would create an account so I could answer tli's question. I'm one of the people that posted an invite to the interview weekend at Penn GSE today. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think, from the results search and the blog, Penn normally sends out invitations to the PhD weekend the 3rd Thursday of January. I don't know for certain but I think HigherLearning is right that tomorrow at the blog they will say that all invites have been sent. I'm so sorry and I do hope that yall hear some good news very soon!!
