  1. Are you applying to Nicaragua? The reason I ask is that all the countries have their own preferances. In any case, mine was in anthropology and natural resources. A good place to look if you want to see the past grantee projects is on the website. There's an area where they list by year the past projects, and it looks like a general pattern in the region has been projects in public health, natural resources, women's issues, and anthrpology, but I'm sure it varies from place to place. Good luck!
  2. Got the crappy news, NS for Nicaragua. Oh well, it's a bit of releif to at least know already! For those of you in the running, good luck and I wish you all the best in the future!
  3. It's technically a part of the Central America/Caribbean regional program, but for whatever reason it seems that the Caribbean countries are getting their notifications sooner than the CA countries, which Costa Rica is a part of. In terms of Mexico and Ecuador, they have their own Fulbright commissions, so their notifications are not going to be tied to ours at all because the process is a bit different for them.
  4. Thanks for doing that. When you mean there's a wait for the CA people, do you mean from the actual counties to make selections, or is the holdup on the Fulbright end in the states? I really don't know how much longer I can take this, it's getting a bit ridiculous.
  5. Good lord, I sure hope that's not the case
  6. Carribean/C.America folks: Damn! Am I the only one who is suprised we haven't heard back yet? I thought we were supposed to be hearding last week. Anyone talk/mail Pamela lately?
  7. Here's the response I got from Pam that I promised to share with all my Central America/Caribbean buddies out there: Dear _________, We are working to get the notification out as soon as possible. I hope by mid-April or so we will be letting applicants know. Best, Pam Hopefully this means we will know in the next couple of weeks.
  8. To all my Caribbean/ Central America friends out there--I sent an email to Pamela on Friday about what to expect in terms of dates for final decisions and will let you all know what I hear once she emails me back. Hope it's soon!
  9. I'm in essentially the same boat. My lease just went up on my apartment, and my landlord is basically saying I have to resign for a year right now or move. No one in my city wants a renter who might only be around a month or two, so I'm basically going to have to couch hop until I get word and pay to have my stuff put in storage.
  10. Full, Nicaragua, recommended.
