Hi BCMPH, 5 people is a very small number. At least I have a back up. Have you decided on where you are going?
-
Anyone hear from the UofA lately? Especially, the Epi stream?
-
Hi all! I just wanted to update. My status for USask has changed from 'Complete ready for review' to 'Dept Recommend'. I hope it's not a mistake! I hope I get the official acceptance soon! I am still waiting on Guelph, Memorial, and Alberta. Best of luck to all!
-
Same with mine. Can anyone with acceptance from Usask tell us how long after your status changed to 'complete ready for review' that you finally got an answer from them?
-
Congrats BCMPH2014! Thanks for sharing your stats too! I applied to the UofA Epi stream and haven't heard back. I am worried and anxious now. Do you know if they send out acceptances in waves? Or is it the first round all at once?
-
I agree with what you are saying. It sounds like the poster sees USask as a bad program because of the people they admit. From what I have seen on the website, a list of alumni from the class of 2013, most of them are from Canada of different ethnic backgrounds. Not immigrants.
-
Are you in the program? Could you provide more insight? What are the courses like? From what I heard it is aligned with the CDC in the USA and students are able to do their practicums there which sounds like a great opportunity.

My documents finally have showed up on the USask website! Since the March 1st deadline it was incomplete, now it is finally ready to be reviewed. Hopefully others will be the same boat. They probably do go as someone said, first come first served. USask is the 3rd largest school of public health in Canada so it is popular. Hang in there everyone!
-
Congrats Shelby! My USask status is also incomplete and I submitted my documents before March 1st for sure (tracking via post) but it was in Mid-February. I did hear from a USask applicant last year that they are kind of slow in processing as last year they had over 700 applicants.
-
Congrats everyone! UBC and UofT are quick to give results. Now, only if other schools can do the same!
-
My Usask documents are still pending.
-
Thanks for the insight! Glad you are enjoying the program! We're all just waiting anxiously for any answers.
-
Good to know, Most of the programs I applied to are general. Are you part of the Guelph Alumni or a current MPH student? I don't know much about Guelph but that sounds very interesting.
-
Do you guys think there is any difference between MPH's with a stream vs a general one? In terms of getting a decent job?
-
Ah I see. I did send a physical copy via express post just in case yesterday. From the results search it seems like U Sask sends out acceptances any time from early March to April. Best of luck everyone! This waiting it torture, but a few more weeks and we should hear something.
-
Hi everyone, Jumping in. I have applied to Usask and it looks like they still haven't got my CV/Resume that I have send via email 2 weeks ago. I am getting worried. I also applied to Memorial and Alberta.
-
Thank you for this insight! Your answer is the most convincing that is worthless. I feel you are correct. I will not mention it on CV.
-
Sorry about that I have made my question a bit clearer.
-
Can I put acknowledgements on my CV? I wouldn't put it under publications but perhaps under an "Acknowledgements" section. Thanks for opinions. (sorry I meant Acknowledgements on research papers, not enough to be an author but mentioned in the acknowledgements section of an article.)

Hi all, I had a colleague who was also my mentor that I worked with. I work in academia. However I only have a BSc. She had a MSc and is currently in a MPH (Masters of Public Health) program. I am also applying for an MPH program and wondered if she would make a good LOR. She will be able to give me a great LOR but I worry about perhaps the level of education she has may not be enough for the admissions committee. What do you think?
-
Hi All, I was wondering if the school you get your MPH or MSc in Canada matters when you are looking for work. Would an MPH/MSc at Uof Guelph not seem as good as from UofT or McMaster (Msc in HRM)?

I still haven't been told of a rejection or acceptance. Classes start next week. I am getting worried as I can only plan of a backup plan in case I don't get in, but I am holding to what if I do get accepted? I contacted the office last week and they told me they would probably provide and answer this week or next week. I haven't heard from this week so I'm guessing I will hear from them next week. Stress levels are rising. Optimism dropping. -
