There should be a twelve step group: Graduate Applicants Anonymous.
God grant me the serenity to accept the rejections I cannot change, the courage to not compulsively check my email, and the wisdom to know the difference between being rejected and being waitlisted.
I love this! Living by these words for the next few weeks for sure.

Thanks for the response! I am from a pretty rural area in the Midwest, so the "small town feel" is some of what appealed to me about the area. I talked to a high school classmate who is attending ETSU for grad school now, and she had very similar things to say. It seems like everyone familiar with the area really enjoys living there, which is reassuring to hear. I will certainly let you know if I have any more questions, I appreciate the help!

I was talking to my aunt and my mom about how nervous and anxious I was to get my decisions back. I was also telling my aunt about my first choice program (at a state school), but how I was worried that I probably wouldn't get in because it is pretty competitive.
Aunt: Well I'm sure you will get in, everybody gets into state schools.
Me: Yea some state schools are pretty easy to get into for undergrad, but its different for grad school. This program has higher admission standards than a lot of the other places I applied.
Aunt: No, it's a state school, you pretty much just have to apply.
hahaha, if only it were that simple.

I feel your pain! Although, due to applying to grad school sort of being a last minute decision, I didn't really get my applications out until January, I still was hoping to have heard SOMETHING by now. All I've gotten are E-mails verifying the fact the schools got my applications. I have gotten a few open house invitations, but these seem to be for all applicants, so I'm not sure how I should read into those.
You are not alone! I try to keep telling myself that very thing, but it feels awfully lonely, haha.
All I can say is, I hope these next few weeks fly by and are wrapped up with some good news : )

So glad to hear I'm not the only one who is haunted by waiting for admissions decisions not only in life, but also in my dreams. As if stressing and obsessively running every scenario through my mind all day long isn't enough, I have to deal with the same things all night long too. Ahh, I would just like some type of news at this point!

Does anyone have any information on living in/around Johnson City, TN for grad school? Specifically, East Tennessee State University. I have heard some pretty decent things, just looking for more. Quality of life, culture, costs, atmosphere, etc.

Thank you! I am actually headed down there in two weeks to check out the area. It's looking like that's where I am going to end up, and I am so excited about it. Which areas would you suggest looking for apartments? Are there any areas that are pretty walkable? I do have a car, but would like to be able to walk from place to place a bit too.
