  1. Maybe now. Two years ago, it was definitely postal service only.
  2. Not a bad idea, but ideally, we should set up a thread where people can post their info and all their accept/reject schools together once everything is in, no?
  3. Angry phone call, indeed. I also found an admit online with no funding info. I'm pretty sure, given the kinds of letters people got yesterday, that it means no aid. boo...
  4. The results page shows only funding offers. I certainly haven't given up hope of acceptance, though I'm certainly not expecting to get any sort of fellowship...
  5. okay, so my username is March Madness-inspired. MizZou-Rah indeed. Big Red doesn't have a chance. (hey, this is a lot more fun than freaking out about admissions emails!)
  6. Tell me about it - I've got two screens on my computer, and between espn.com and my inbox, I STILL don't have enough pixels for real work.
  7. Because I didn't see any mention of program caps in anything I've seen on the HKS site, I have no reason to believe that program choice affects admissions odds. Does anyone else have evidence to the contrary? That said, I also applied IGA - it looks just flexible enough to be really interesting without being so broad as to lose focus. I'm far more interested in the political side than in security, though.
  8. Yeah, because I made a commitment to service a theme in my SoP, my HKS essay shared about 50% content with any of the others, which themselves were more like 75-80% similar. Even then, I thought of it as a different breed of essay from the more generic statement of purpose - in my case, it just happened to be the spark that really helped me figure out what I wanted to say and then got incorporated into my more general statement for other schools.
  9. Yes, but the prompt for the statement of purpose is a bit different than other schools' - it does say something along the lines of "how did you decide to get into public service?" instead of just, "so, what's your plan?" I'm pretty sure that's what was meant.
  10. I did, but I haven't heard anything special about funding for that particular concentration. What makes you say that?
  11. Yeah, I saw that (here, or in another thread?) and smiled - I was busing down weekends to canvass (North Philly for primaries, University City and just west of there for the general). It made me miss the campaign trail.
  12. HQ - I'm a tech geek for DSS. Are you also past or current UN?
  13. I checked government. Another campaign nerd here - though I was only a volunteer for the Obama folks in Philly, I worked a Senate race in the '06 midterms. Since then, I spent six months studying in Morocco and a year and a half at the UN.
  14. That first wave included both the easily-decided rejects and the easily-decided accept-without-fundings (I was one of the latter). My best guess is that the 20% remaining are both some of those definitely-accept-but-do-we-fund? debates AND some of those do-we-accept-or-not debates. Overall, I'd say the odds then are pretty good, since some of the posters here are probably in that first group, and even some of those in the second will still get good answers. I think, reading the blog, that the ones not released aren't definitely in OR out; they're the hardest of the ad com's decisions. Then again, I'm no expert - just trying to make sense of the Admissions blog posts and stave off despair for those still waiting. Think happy, fellowship-offer thoughts...
  15. I was offered only $4000, and looking at the search, it seems that Tufts offered many others modest awards in this 4-6,000 range as well. Then again, my need might not be as great as others' - I've been working the past two years and do have enough savings that the first year isn't going to hurt too badly (and I'll be taking things one year at a time, I suppose...)
