  1. Veilside, I actually applied to the Joint Program through History rather than Classics. I hope that means that there is still hope for you via Classics!
  2. It was an official notice via email from one of the chairs of the small admissions committee who works in my sub-field with an email from my POI very quickly following it. I'm heading to campus now so if I hear anything more about when other applicants will be notified I will, of course, post it for you all.

  4. I just got my official acceptance to UChicago's History department! This might be a tad on the early side since I am currently a student there but I bet you all will hear good news this week! If you end up being deferred to the terminal MA program, please feel free to contact me about it. I did their masters program and it was a really smart decision for me. Good luck to you all!
  5. It was actually in email form, not snail mail... I don't think my postman is quiet diligent enough to get me my mail by 6 am. I was only up to finish working on Attic Greek homework, but that is obviously not getting done...
  6. Veilside, I woke up with an email from Brown this morning (around 6 am EST) saying that I was admitted and that they were sure I had already heard... well I hadn't! The email said that I had been accepted into the History department (although I applied to the Joint PhD Program in Ancient History) so either the History department is offering the funding or I have been placed their for admin purposes. I hope you get good news today too!

  8. Woke up to an acceptance letter from BROWN!!!! Very excited and can't wait to fly there in March to visit the program!!! As of last night, the Brown website only said that a decision had not yet been made. YIPPIE! I hope you all get great news today!!!
  9. I completed UChicago's terminal masters program and am still there while working on language skills. I also work for UChicago. They might still take a few days to notify but I wouldn't be surprised if people heard on Friday (it is a special day at UChicago where the undergrads have off, so maybe the admin/POI will start contacting but it could take until next week for everyone to get their act together). If you are admitted via the fund for diversity it could even take a few days longer since that pool of money is governed by an entity beyond the actual history department. Good luck you to all!
  10. UChicago will notify the 20 applicants they have accepted in the next few days. They have 20 fellowship spots this year plus a few fellowships (around 5) through another funding source seeking to recruit students who fall under UChicago's diversity criteria. If you are not offered admission to a PhD program, your application is automatically sent to a terminal masters program and the decision about that will not be made for weeks, so the post about a rejection is untrue.
  11. I'm still waiting to hear from UPenn.. NHM did you hear something good? Hope you all are hanging in there. I have been frantically checking my email for anything from Brown, but to no avail!
  12. I also received my official acceptance from UW-M today via snail mail!
  13. I do Roman social and economic history! I was super happy to hear back from UCSB very early in the process but I am still waiting on 12 more programs! Because of my interests I would be better suited to a department that houses Roman history within the history department, rather than within the Classics department. UCSB is really trying to build their program up with a heavier emphasis on history so I am very excited to go visit in March. I am hoping to hear from IPGRH this coming week! Fingers crossed!
  14. Good luck, Bluetube! I feel like I have every conceivable emotion regarding this whole waiting process. Some days are easier than others! From what other people on this forum have said it sounds like your admit to Buffalo is very coveted. Congrats! I am not a linguist myself so I can't say I have a good feeling for which programs are strongest in that area. I hope you keep hearing good news!
  15. Ah, well. That is a no go on my WashU application then! It seems that a lot of departments at WashU must have notified today because the board is lighting up with responses from a wide range of programs.
  16. Hey Bluetube, I was wondering what "Pending" means on your profile. Have you heard back anything for those school or are those places you have applied?
  17. Did anyway hear anything about WashU? A friend of mine went there for her undergrad and raves about the school.
  18. Veilside, Yes, Ancient History via the UChicago History department hasn't even really met yet. The entire department will be meeting on the 6th, so don't except anything before then! Typically, UChicago History notifies on or around Valentine's Day. Good Luck!
  19. Just an update on UChicago's History program. They are not meeting until February 6th. Hopefully this will allow some people to sleep easy for the next few days. Good luck everyone and I hope you all get good news!
  20. UChicago offered up 11 spots this year. No waitlist was made (nor will one be made) and all offers have already gone out via Email. Those who did not receive offers had their applications sent to UChicago's masters program in Humanities. The students will be brought in individually for on campus visits, not in one big group as they did two years ago.
