  1. I was totally thinking that about Fordham waitlist. But it's NYC so I kinda don't... but then this is SAIS so I kinda do.....
  2. Nope but Cdn Studies was my frist choice (2nd choice was Southeast Asia). Neither of those are capped so I'm sure they'll let me be.
  3. CONGRATS! I'll be in Canadian Studies. No word on funding yet; it will come with the package in the mail.
  4. JUST got the email 1 minute ago. I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. If they're putting them in the mail today (e.g. before 5pm so in the next 2.5 hrs), no one's getting anything by regular post before next week. So let's all try to relax and enjoy the weekend!
  6. Aaaarrgh that is excruciating!
  7. Thank youuu from the IPED waitlisters! They haven't told me anything about my position in the waitlist. I would expect it to be sort of long (not that I know anything about waitlists) because from what I understand, IPED is absolutely tiny, like a class of 30 or so.
  8. I've been admitted to IRPS at UCSD for an MA. Anyone else here in that program considering attending admitted students day on April 2-3? I'm debating if I should go because the travel reimbursement won't be enough cover my plane ticket and I'm still waiting on hearing back from other schools so I'd rather not have to shell out tons of money for "admitted day" trips because I already did a mini-tour of a handful of places on the East Coast back in October. I'm pretty keen on at least seeing the place (So Cal weather totally trumps Toronto winter/spring!), meeting the people, trying to get a better grasp of what I'm considering.
  9. Ertanner: I'm with you on that one! However if you've gotten into Georgetown, that should hardly be leaving you wanting a whole lot more! What makes you find Fordham a good choice (besides just not wanting to be in limbo)?
  10. I finally caved and called them today and they e-mailed me my letter that seems to have gotten lost in the mail. Onto the waitlist I go! The more and more I think about it, I actually am starting to lean towards wanting to go to Fordham. My really good friend is transferring to Columbia, and their med school is like RIGHT beside the Bronx. Or maybe this is just a "wanting what I can't have" thing... heh. Thoughts? Why or why don't you want to go to Fordham? I'm starting to like the idea of staying on the East Coast and focusing more on finance (I applied to the Int'l Banking stream).
  11. I totally voted and posted my reply before skimming replies first... count me in the "recovering paralegals" demographic!
  12. I picked law and direct from undergrad. I've worked for almost four years at a boutique intellectual property law firm as a legal assistant on and off since the summer after my freshman year of undergrad. I've been there full time for almost a year now (my gap year after undergrad, which I finished in May 2008).
  13. This thread is the 2008 thread. We're talking about 2009 here: http://forum.thegradcafe.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16506
  14. Interesting. Distance and borders are likely not reasons for me not having heard anything yet, since both California and the Philippines are quite a ways further away from the Bronx than Toronto is! I wonder if they just arbitrarily split the applicant list alphabetically. My last name starts with "W," so if that's the case then I am likely not going to be in the first wave as you all seem to be. I'll wait until Friday (going back to my apt on my lunch to check my mail... a little obsessive, I know!) and if I still don't get anything yet, I'll give them a call Friday afternoon. Anybody actually considering accepting Fordham IPED? I'm not sure what to think of anything anymore... but I'm pretty fickle! I applied to the International Banking stream but somehow I don't think that's the best thing to study these days, in terms of job prospects upon graduation.
  15. Noooooooooooo! They said "on or before March 20" in their Friday (March 13th) e-mail, the one about the survey (that also gave me a heart attack).
  16. Question for everyone who has heard from Fordham via snailmail: whereabouts geographically are you? I also applied to IPED but I haven't received anything yet. I'm in Toronto so maybe mail takes a little longer to Canada... *crosses fingers*
  17. I was on the SAIS Admissions Chat a few weeks ago and they said they'd mail hardcopy decisions simultaneously around March 20. Last year they did staggered email-and-snailmail decisions (I found out from lurking an old collegeconfidential thread): Bologna decisions came out a few days before DC (March 9 and 14 respectively), accepts found out before those who didn't get in (almost mid-April), and some people only got e-mail or snailmail, while others got both.
