  1. I'm in too! Also an international student in the TIE program!!! I'm sorry, too shocked and I can't even type, will post later!!!

I'm in! Totally freaked out! Got into TIE and still screaming!

Any International students in the TIE program??

Long time lurker! Just got accepted to the TIE program!!! Congratulations, all!

Same in both respects! Long time lurker, future TIE student!

I got into TIE too! 6 of us right here- this is awesome! Anyone has any idea how large is TIE cohort?

  2. Anyone been able to access the prematriculation website yet? Now im greedy... I want ALL the info!!!

I can't access it either. Says "I'm not authorised to see the site" and it's limited only to admitted students. I almost had a shock and double checked the admit letter :P

  3. Has anyone from ICE or LDT heard anything yet? Looks like only POLS acceptances have been made!

Nothing from LDT- atleast on my end. Though, @elvenitocho received a reply stating we should hear back this week.

I know it's hard waiting- I, for one, have become obsessed with the refresh button on my email app :P

  4. Hi everyone,

Ok, so I just heard back from the Admissions department regarding my application status saying "incomplete". First of all, they also mentioned that results should be out this week.

Now, for those of you whose status says "incomplete", and for future GradCafers who will read this thread wondering the same thing (as I saw from previous posts it is a common problem every year), you should rest assured that this is absolutely normal. This seems to happen when the Admissions department must manually pull scores that don't directly make it to them (such as when you enter a department code). So, if you haven't sent your GRE/TOEFL scores yet, don't enter a department code. If you did, and they haven't reached out to you specifically to let you know they don't have your scores, don't worry: your file still moved forward for review.

    I hope that helps!

Good to know everything was alright!

  5.

I'm applying to LDT! And since you're a UX designer, I'm guessing you are as well? Are you also applying to Harvard TIE?

The wait is making me a bit nervous too, but yes, we should know by tomorrow. I'm in Europe at the moment so I have a 9-hour difference with PST, which seems to make the days longer somehow!

Yes and Yes! :D LDT and TIE! I hope we both hear some good news tomorrow. Even though I'm living in California, the days seem eternally long to me too!

  6.

Ok, that makes me a bit uneasy, although after reading last year's posts it seems to be a common problem and the application status for even some of those who were accepted said "incomplete" up until the last minute too.

I was surprised that such a technology-oriented university as Stanford would outsource their application system to CollegeNet/ApplyWeb rather than having their own. Aside from the problem of having to manually complete all applications, the experience of completing the application wasn't smooth at all as you had to fill it in sequentially. I'm sure coding your own application system isn't that much work... It could even be an LDT student project   :)

I'm a ux designer and stanford application system made me cringe! It was by far the worst I had encountered among all colleges. Filling the application sequentially was absurd when I had to click next 14 times to reach the last section for a small edit. And this view checklist- it's such an important component- and yet hidden behind a button placed at the most confusing junction. I wonder if they realize how poorly this reflects on the college. But I guess, Stanford being Stanford, they can get away with this.

By the way, which program have you applied to? We should hear something by tomorrow. The wait is killing me!

  7. Mine does say "submitted" as well, but then when you go to "View checklist" there's an item right below the "Application" headline that says "Application Status: Incomplete"... Does yours say that too?

Wow, I never checked that! But it says "complete" for me.

  8.

By the way, does anyone's application status page still say "incomplete"? Mine does, although I submitted and sent everything in late November / early December. One of the admissions directors said back then that this did not mean the application wasn't moving on for review, it was just that they manually completed all applications and they would contact me if something was missing. However, I'm surprised that it still doesn't show as completed so late in the game.

Mine says "submitted." Since it's done manually, maybe they forgot to update your status? I think they would've contacted you if additional materials were required.

  9. Parsons:

I visited the school sat in the classroom and really liked it. The professor was insightful, gave amazing feedback and the students seemed to really be into their projects. It definitely seems like a challenging program and I like the fact that program is very techology based. This also seems like an amazing opportunity to network and from what I've heard the professors really are into helping the students. I spoke with students who loved the program and said the program is vey time consuming but some students do work outside of school. The only downside I've heard is that the financial aid department is not all that great. Parsons offered a scholarship that made it just about the same cost as SVA.

It's great to read your view on Parsons Design & Tech. I am struggling between Dynamic Media Institute, Mass Arts and Design & Tech, Parsons. Though I'm leaning towards Mass Arts because of the extremely high cost of Parsons(and I did not get any financial aid!). Any thoughts on Mass Arts?Anyone?

  10. How would you compare Parsons (Design and Technology) vs Mass Arts (Dynamic Media)?

Parsons is way too expensive but everybody I know has a high regard fro the program. Plus, being in NYC, there might be internship opportunities available that might help meet some costs.

On the other hand, Mass Arts has an excellent program and is half the cost as that of Parsons. Boston is a great city and there may just be a chance to collaborate with MIT Media Lab.

Any thoughts will be highly appreciated.

  11. Just checked financial aid at my.newschool.edu . They finally updated it.

Your estimated cost of attendance is $60,366.00.

You have been awarded financial aid which totals $20,500.00. (of unsubsidized loans)

    Yikes.

i can't access my financial aid info yet!.. says "This page is not enabled for current user role"

  12. I got exact same hand written note on the letter. It's a spam note. Parsons trying to appeal their financial needs obviously.

So, everybody who got accepted into Parsons had the note on their letter?!

:D now i just feel funny about it if its a spam! They did get to me for some time though! :D

Have you heard anything from them on merit based scholarship ?

  13. I applied to the MFA fine art at Parsons, and I can log in... it says on the front page congrats on acceptance etc., but to be honest I don't think it means you're accepted necessarily. They could have just given applicants under consideration logins just in case...

Giving each applicant being considered a login is sensible. However, I do not think they would have written a congratulatory note on acceptance for all the applicants. It will be just ridiculous on their part. And esp. when the login is so easily accessible. Also, why will they provide an option of making a tution deposit. I am still waiting for the official letter to erase all doubts. However, if one can open the tab to the congratulatory note, I think it means an acceptance.

  14. If I got funding from Pratt, I'd prefer it too. Living in NYC definitely has benefits over living in Pittsburgh. But you know- it's Carnegie Mellon and I also love the CPID program. So I would infinitely prefer CMU if they gave me funding but they're explicit about their lack of financial support for international students.

In addition to CMU and Pratt, I've also applied to RISD and SCAD.

Have you heard anything from RISD?
