  1. I would add that you should be prepared with some questions about the program/university/professor's research. My interview last year for the place I'm at included the standard questions about my (somewhat odd) background, what my plans were, why this university, etc, but ended with my questions. I was also asked how likely I was to attend if admitted, which caught me off guard, but it was a pre-decision interview. It was honestly pretty informal, but that probably depends on the prof.
  2. Ahh, I see. Well good luck then. I'm not sure whether they send out all the acceptance/wait-list letters at the same time. The rejections come pretty late though, or at least they have in the past. : / Penn doesn't do an interview weekend, but they do invite accepted students to campus for a couple days. They have AAMW, Classics, and Ancient History students all there together for at least some of it. I did the post-bacc at Penn, so I know that much.
  3. Congrats. When is their prospectives weekend? It doesn't look like AAMW has send out acceptances yet, but they are notorious for not rejecting anyone until mid-late March, so I'd like to know when to give up hope.
  4. Wrong on both counts. The British spelling is programme; the American spelling is program. I wouldn't worry about it though. I always use American English here - it's better than finding out that there's a weird British spelling that you don't know about. On the other hand, I think that I wrote programme in my correspondences after receiving acceptances last year. They were very understanding about waiting for decisions at American schools. Affect is correct. Effect is rarely a verb and only in the sense of causing an effect.
  5. Sad, I guess that's a no-go for Brown. I do wish they would send all the notifications at the same time. Maybe I'm lucky and on the wait-list? I just got the go find your rejection letter online from AHMA. Good luck to everyone else.
  6. My mother last year: "I'm afraid you won't get in anywhere, and I can't afford to start paying back this loan right now." Gee, thanks for the support. Thankfully, after I got into 4/4 masters programs last year and refused to tell her about my acceptances until April, she decided to be nicer this year. Everyone this year: "You applied to how many schools?!?! (10ish) How much did that cost?" Yeah, I'm really trying not to think about that part.
  7. Has anyone heard from Joukowsky? Classics, History, and Anthropology have all sent out decisions, but I haven't seen anything for Archaeology and the Ancient World. To the person who said that IPCAA made decisions... how do you know? It wasn't a good fit for me anyway, but I'd still like an answer.
