I still haven't had an update. It looks from the results board that those who do also received an email, one of those generic "a decision has been made" type things from the graduate school rather than the department.
I'm also trying not to read too much into it, but it's hard--Columbia was a tough loss for me.
I've studied mostly modernism through undergrad, but want to expand back a bit into 19th century British. I'm really, really thrilled to be in! Especially after the Brown and Columbia notifications...
It's from Deborah Nord, who's the Director of Graduate Studies. I just got a voicemail, didn't actually speak with her.
I wouldn't worry too much about having been on a bus--I played phone tag with another DGS about a week ago and ended up calling him back from the airport, which is not the quietest place to have a conversation. He was pretty cheerful about it.
Berkeley update--got a "short wait list" email with an invitation to come to their visit weekend in March. What does this mean?? Is there a long wait list? I'm emailing them back for more details.
I posted my acceptance last night!
Letter didn't mention number of admits, just said there were very few. And it was an email directly from the department. They said we'll get an email from the Grad Division with a link to the official letter and more details on funding and residency.
I'm a Modernist looking to expand to nineteenth-century.
