Thanks for this! I sent them an email and got reply after about a half an hour with the official email notification!
-
Hmmm still nothing... hopefully it will come soon. Have most people received emails or are you all just going off the awardees list?
-
G/G E/VG E/E Awarded. So excited I don't know what to do with myself. Anyone know around what time they send the official email?

Just an FYI--- I called in today to see if the secretary could update me on how many people in psychology have accepted, and she said she was unable to give me a number because they're still processing all of the forms. She told me to try calling back next week. Also, I tried to see where I am on the alternates list with no success haha.

I also requested feedback and have not received a reply. I read on another forum that if you include the last four digits of your SSN in your email, they will probably be able to get back to you faster. I may follow up and give them this info.

I called yesterday and the secretary said to email infofell@nas.edu

What a horrible oversight by the ford foundation...

Here's my email (I was selected as an alternate): Subject: Ford Foundation Fellowships Program 2012 Predoctoral Competition Notification From: NRCFONoReply@nas.edu Ford Foundation Fellowships Program 2012 Predoctoral Competition Notification Letter Attached Thank you for your participation in this competition The NRC Fellowships Office Staff Dear Ford Foundation Fellowship Predoctoral Applicant: Your application in the 2012 competition of the Ford Foundation Fellowships Program at the predoctoral level has been carefully evaluated, and your name has been placed on a list of alternates whose applications will be considered for an award in the event that an awardee declines a fellowship offer. We expect to make such decisions approximately one month from now. Unless you have previously requested otherwise, your name will appear on the Honorable Mention List, which will be posted on the Fellowships Office web page of the National Academies website once the final award list is confirmed. If we do not contact you again, unfortunately we are unable to offer you a fellowship this year. Approximately 1300 predoctoral applications were reviewed by panels composed of highly qualified scientists, engineers, and humanities scholars from across the nation. Since only 60 predoctoral awards are available, many deserving candidates could not be selected. Application materials for the 2013 competition will become available in September 2012. If you are eligible to apply in this program next year, visit the Fellowships Office Web Page: www.national- academies.org/fellowships for information and materials. On behalf of the Ford Foundation and the National Research Council of the National Academies, I thank you for your participation in this competition and hope that you will successfully find funding for the continuation of your graduate education.

Hmm. Not sure... Maybe if you call and get a nice secretary lol? It's definitely worth a try.
-
From looking at previous threads, it seems as though they create an alternate list for each discipline. As people from your specific discipline decline the offer, they begin pulling from the alternates list.
-
Got my notification for the predoctoral fellowship at 2:04pm est. I'm an alternate! That's better than nothing so I'm not too down about it.
-
Someone should call and see . It would also be nice to know what time today we can expect the notification.
-
I just called and the secretary said we will find out tomorrow (Friday) via email.
-
I guess notifications weren't sent out today? Back to the waiting game.

Hi everyone... I've been lurker but I figured I'd post something since we should should be hearing in a few days. I'm just excited to finally know one way or another!

Questions to ask after being admitted

Thanks everyone! -
Hey all! I recently found out that I was accepted into one of my top programs (yay!). Once I found out, I was literally bombarded with emails from faculty and grad students I met during my visit congratulating me and telling me to let them know if I have any questions. I feel like I pretty much asked all of my questions while I was there to visit, but I don't want to seem rude by not responding to their emails. Any suggestions for questions I might ask? Thanks!
