  1. So I accepted an offer to a university that gave me an offer that is too good to pass up. Anyway, should I withdraw from the two other schools I'm waiting to hear from? I guess I just don't care what they have to say.
  2. I have decided to take the offer from UF. I still haven't heard from UMich or Duke but it's not worth waiting for me. I haven't had the best correspondence with my POI from Duke, but I have had the best correspondence with my advisor from UF. I am very excited and I wanted to wish you all the best luck as you find where you are going next year. I am done.
  3. I too, will be moving from New York/New Jersey to central FL! Does anybody know anything about Country Village apartments? I am looking very seriously into renting from them through Apartment Hunters.
  4. Hey guys! I just got a full fellowship to UF so I am seriously considering going to Gainesville, FL. I was wondering if people could tell me more about UF and Gainesville (the weather, dorms, etc). Can graduate students live in the dorms? When do we pick apartments? How much do they cost? What kinds of things are there to do in Gainesville for fun?
  5. I got a full fellowship to University of Florida. So far: Accepted: University of Florida Rejected: Northwestern, JHU Waiting to Hear: USC, UMIch, Duke, Caltech Unfortunately, the professors that I contacted at Duke don't have any spots available for me so I most likely will be rejected there. However, they sent me nice emails, which was really great.
  6. I got rejected from Northwestern on Saturday but a friend of mine who is going for the same exact area hasn't heard yet.
  7. You should go with what you are more interested in. You should look at papers regarding each research subject and see which one is more appealing to you. There is no sense in choosing a subject if you're not interested in it because you're going to work on it for the next 5-6 years, even if the other one might have a "better future." Also, I think any PhD offer is great and will give you what you need to have a successful future, regardless of the topic. In all, you should be proud of yourself for getting two PhD offers from a university because that in itself is a great accomplishment.
  8. Not so far, but I seriously hope I do get an interview. I emailed a few of the profs that i'm interested in working with but i haven't heard back from any of them.
  9. I don't know about Rice but I found out today that Duke's final recruitment weekend is on March 24th or 25th.
  10. @ ghanada, I also applied to USC and apparently they sent out invites to interviews because a friend of mine is going soon. I contacted them, though, and they said they haven't made decisions yet. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I had a really nice interview with a professor from University of Florida. They are doing the exact research that I want to do, so I'm really excited about that.
  11. I have a Skype interview with a professor from a university that I applied to for a PhD in BME. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for how to interview via Skype.
  12. @ghanada: I emailed someone from JHU and they told me I am rejected.
