I sometimes think the "virtually un-ranked safety schools" can end up becoming the most competitive schools because they get so may applicants! I think a lot more people apply to those schools because they think it is easy to get into them. Now that this field is so competitive nothing seems easy to get into -

I agree your stats definitely seem FSU worthy to me! I know that FSU is ranked 18 compared to USF is ranked 46. I don't really know if the rankings factor into the competitiveness of the schools though. Maybe FSU got a huge spike in applicants this year. I don't know but to me it seems like there is no way to explain this process!! I think you can ask the school why you were rejected though, so if it's really bothering you it might be worth the shot to ask FSU why! Congrats on the acceptance to USF though, I heard it's a great program! I applied to UF as well. -

I am dying to hear from them! I emailed about two weeks ago and I was told they were aiming for mid-March since they had more applicants than usual (which would probably be this week?). Then I called today and was told "I don't know, I have no idea." So now I'm just sitting here waiting and waiting!! -

Hello! I know it is rare but some schools also accept in the spring semester. The school I go to now for undergrad (UCF) does, and it is a lot less competitive in the spring. So for anyone who does not get in this time around, you could always reapply for spring!! That will only be one semester later instead of a whole year later!! Good luck everyone!! -

Hi WannabeSLP, I am writing an undergraduate honors thesis right now. Honestly, it is a lot of work and a big time commitment. However, it is a rewarding experience, to know that you are adding knowledge to our field! I think it depends on what you are interested in. If there is something in this field that you love enough to dedicate a lot of time a effort on then I would say go for it! The key is making sure it is something that you are genuinely interested in. Also I was wondering if for grad school if you choose thesis option, do you still do a clinical externship? I would not want to miss out on the clinical aspect!! Hope this helps a little -

I currently go to UCF and mine says incomplete. For me it is because they only have my "preliminary" transcripts because I am graduating this semester and am taking classes right now. -

I am in the same boat as you! I did not apply to Vanderbilt, but I have not heard back from any of the 3 schools I applied to (no one has, so at least I know it's not just me)! It is getting so old waiting!! I cannot wait to hear back! -
