I called them the other day to get an idea of their grant packages. 12k is the maximum.

btw airwick can you make the facebook group private? apparently facebook posted my post in the group page to all my friends' newsfeed which has inadvertently exposed my plans to attend harvard... which is now causing unrest amongst bay area family and friends

Any other TIE people also considering an offer for Stanford's LDT program?
-
I'm considering the TIE program, so access to the tech world is my top concern. Stanford certainly has proximity to that, but as I learned in my conversation the LDT program at Stanford is quite narrowly focused on instructional design. I can build a much more flexible course schedule at Harvard to accommodate what I want to do after graduation (which is not instructional design). and in terms of access to tech@Harvard: 1) you can take courses at MIT 2) you can do research projects with MIT professors 3) Boston has a burgeoning ed.tech startup scene so.. at this point it's a no brainer for me.

I just got off the phone with a Harvard prof. I definitely think I'm going to HGSE now. Stanford and its waitlist can suck it.

LC undergrad here. LC is a great school & area and I will always be a huge supporter of it. However, it really depends on what you're trying to do & how ambitious you are. You could goto LC and always have tons of respect in the area, and be well connected. The same could be said of going to Columbia or Harvard.. but you might have to network a bit more to get a job after you graduate. That being said, the prestige value of Columbia/Harvard will probably serve you better in the long run than LC.. -
I knew Harvard was going to be tough but that PIN process was pretty overwhelming

also accepted to TIE :| i couldn't be happier

when I applied to law schools last year, many of my letters cited those exact words in explaining my rejection
-
that sounds awesome. are you applying to Vandy as well? I don't think they have an ed tech-focused program right??
-
Airwick, I'm totally pulling for you in my thoughts if that counts. ... and not just because I want your LDT spot ;-)

Who is on the waiting list of Stanford? (master)
ottertown replied to guoannie's topic in Education Forums
on the plus side... based on the incredibly small sample size of this forum, I have yet to see two people wait-listed for the same masters program. perhaps the waitlist is actually used. and as for the april 15... technically, decisions were only supposed to happen after march 15, and they happened two weeks early. april 15 might just be more slack they give themselves. optimistic to my grave, ottertown -

yeah I did. I hate to be indignant about the decision but I really don't understand where I fell short. i have a pretty strong e-learning record.. admissions is such a frustrating process. will you be attending for sure? either way, congrats and best of luck. -

perhaps we should start a support group for people devastated by wait-list decisions. Is there a difference between wait list and alternate? what did your email say? mine had a link to a survey to confirm my interest -

hi everyone. I woke up to a pretty disappointing email today that I was put as an alternate for LDT. I guess it beats a rejection notice but I had a pretty strong application so I'm not sure where I went wrong (167's, 5 AW, 3.6 GPA, 2.5 years in various ed.tech roles). anyhow, does anyone have any advice for how to proceed? likelihoods of success to get in? thanks! somberly, ottertown
