ASHA requirements - physical science
kelsahhbeth replied to clydeyo12's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
My advice is to take a physics or chem class as soon as you can! I have friends who took astronomy/geology and are now having to take the extra class in top of their graduate classes/clinic. I ended up doing intro to physics online for pass/no pass. I think as long as something says on phys/chem on your transcript that's all that matters! -
ASHA requirements - physical science

Hey! I'm a first year grad student so im way too familiar with asha's changes. Asha just changed the physical science requirements this year to a chemistry or physics class if you become certified after September 1 2014, which if you're going to start this fall you will be. But fortunately they don't specify the credit amount the class has to be or if it has to be graded or not so I have a few classmates who are taking a one credit chemistry seminar that is just pass/no pass. -

I know of two on the wait list personally. But that's all I know. I get the impression it's not too short though for some reason :/ -

I haven't officially decided yet...it's between Portland State and Pacific University for sure though. I'm touring Portland State tomorrow morning and hoping that gives me some perspective. -

Just officially declined my offer to UW's Core SLP program. One of the hardest things I have had to do in a while. It really sucks that finances play such a strong role in deciding where I end up going, but that's life I guess. -
Does anybody else notice on the results list...

Nope, there's just a lot of us. -

I got accepted into the University of Oregon today too! I'm not planning on attending there, since it's my undergrad right now and I want to move back to Portland, so hopefully this opens up a spot for one of you. But other than the location, UO is a great school. I have only compliments about the program and the faculty and I think it would be worth the consideration financially. -

UW is my dream school, like the Autism Center makes me swoon ha, but it's unrealistic financially for me. I'm leaning towards PSU or Pacific. I loved Pacific when I visited though. -

I'm not sure...my guess is e-mail though since PSU is a pretty big/busy school. And I never got one e-mail/letter confirming my application or anything after the deadline so I would think that if they didn't do that they wouldn't do mail. -

Apparently Portland State is notifying people by the end of this week/ early next week! A friend of mine spoke to the director and found this out. -

That's EXACTLY how I feel. My whole goal during this process was to HAVE to make a choice between schools i.e. get into more than once place. But now that I have it's confusing and scary. ha -

I got into UW! My. Mind. Is. Blown. And there was no e-mail either...I just saw that you guys had seen a decision so Iogged into the website and there it was! -
I got my first acceptance last week and after pulling myself together I went to Target and bought myself a swimsuit, the last Hunger Games, nail polish, and junk food. And then stopped to get a burrito on the way home. Nothing like shopping when you're happy!

They said the official letter will be sent out in a week or so and to send back confirmation of attending or not ASAP. But they know we're waiting on other schools still so we can hold a spot apparently while we wait just in case. -

Oh, and apparently they only call if it's an acceptance according to my roommate.... -

I was the one that got accepted to Pacific University! My roommate and one other girl in my major did too. So they are definitely doing the calls today and tomorrow. But I'm sure some people won't accept the offer...they sounded like they expected a lot of people to say no and go through a big waitlist. But good luck! -

Hopeful1234, did you mean Pacific University instead of University of Pacific? Cause I noticed you're applying to Pacific University....
