I would add Penn to your list. They have an outstanding higher education master's program (with a guaranteed graduate assistantship). It's also located close to DC where you won't be very far from your family.
I am enrolled in this program and the guaranteed paid graduate assistantship by the priority deadline is a lie.

Rejected, not surprised.

My Penn decision available email came at 1:14AM EST and by 9 AM the next morning they had sent me another email telling me I had yet to view the decision. I'm guessing it won't be like that for HGSE... Time to sleep.

I see someone who had very similar "numbers" to me got accepted last year. That gives me some hope.
I just discovered the results survey part of this now.

For Higher Education? If so, that's the same program I was accepted to!
Yes. Congrats on your acceptance.

Accepted at Penn last month.

So I stumbled across grad cafe while on reddit and someone mentioned the results survey to figure out (roughly) when notifications go out, specifically because I am waiting on HGSE. Of course, seeing some of the experience you all have leaves me feeling pretty terrified of my chances at acceptance. heh.
Any one else apply for the EdM in Higher Ed?
I know what you mean. I went from thinking I had about a 50/50 shot to thinking I will be rejected for sure. That 53% acceptance rate sure looked tantalizing before I realized everyone who applies has insane credentials.

Hi all. I just found out about this site yesterday. The anticipation is killing me now. I put 2011 by mistake under app season.

I enrolled in the program at UPenn and had the most absolutely horrific experience to the point I withdrew. The guaranteed paid assistantship as listed on their website is a complete lie. It was the selling point for me and then they tried to make me an unpaid project assistant after I did not get offered a graduate assistantship for the ones I interviewed. Nobody took any of my concerns seriously and I felt I had no option but to leave the program in lieu of throwing away $40,000 tuition on a program I could have gone to for free at another school. I have a Penn GSE email, I'm not someone from a rival program trying to put it down, I seriously had the worst experience of my academic life with their staff. Total waste of time and money. STAY AWAY!
