  1. Another person just posted their acceptance to Columbia Teacher's College and said that they just checked their application and the decision was there, but that they didn't get any email.
  2. Thanks, SLP-Allie! I asked at my top school and they did say that getting a position working in a lab the second year was a possibility. I'm trying to stay positive and hope that pans out!
  3. Thanks so much for your answer, mammalian. I applied to STEPS, but I didn't get into the program. They did say that I'd still get the bilingual academic and clinical training, but I was waitlisted for funding Very disappointed... I'm also an out-of-field applicant, so that makes the price tag even more costly since I'll have to complete prerequisite coursework. I keep telling myself that once I graduate I should be able to repay my loans no problem, but the idea of having such a large amount of debt frightens me. I have absolutely no idea how FAFSA works, I just hope I can get some sort of financial aid that way... Thanks so much for your reply, SLP-Allie. The schools I've applied to tell you whether you got an assistantship or GA with your acceptance. I know that the schools that I've applied to offer some assistantships, but getting them is another story, especially considering how many competitive applicants there are Hopefully I hear back from the other schools I applied to soon and they offer me some sort of funding!
  4. OK, so yesterday I had a horrible realization and I thought I'd share it with everyone in here since it barely let me get any sleep last night. I know that probably most of you knew about this already, but I always thought that after attending any school for a year we could establish residency the second year and then pay in-state tuition. Then yesterday I found out that MANY schools have a policy by which if you start out as an out-of-state resident, you are stuck with that residency for the entirety of your program There are some schools that are more lenient but still the process of changing from out-of-state to in-state seems to be really complicated, with many schools threatening to expel you if you apply for in-state residency when the main purpose of you being in the state is to attend their institution. How the heck am I going to pay for school? By the end of my program I'm going to have a mortgage worth of loans! Does anyone know when we'll hear back from FAFSA?
  5. Thanks so much for sharing this information, leesta! Can't wait to hear from SDSU!
  6. That's great news!!! I'm really happy for you, mammalian
  7. My permanent and current addresses are the same, so I'm not sure... Maybe slp90 can answer that for you. I also applied to the STEPS program and I got my letter on Tuesday, so I don't think that's why you haven't heard anything yet. Don't worry too much about it though, people are still hearing back from IU so I'm sure both you and remmy will hear back early next week -- hopefully with some good news!
  8. Congrats on your assistantship offer, slp90! Could you please share your stats with us? Is IU your first choice?
  9. Remmy, did you call or email Kim Elkins to ask whether your application was complete? I live in Washington state (3 hours away from Seattle) and I got my letter on Tuesday. Also, to all the Indiana University applicants, does someone know of anyone who got accepted with funding? So far it seems that everyone who got accepted was either accepted without funding or waitlisted for funding.
