  1. Rejected at Ohio St. and NC State. I just hope I get in somewhere I think I'm screwed.
  2. For anyone waiting on Ohio St., they said they should have all decisions made and posted by the end of the week. I know it's only another day, but I don't know if I can wait that long!
  3. Looking at my bank account, I think I can come up with $13.28. Think that's enough to move some wheels???
  4. Someone got an admit to Ohio St. My app still says it is in review . I am going to take that as a bad sign.
  5. My wife laughs (in an aggravated kind of way) when I check at 10 pm, after having checked at 9:30. On a Saturday.
  6. On average, I figure that I check every 5 minutes or so
  7. From previous years results it looks like people recieved rejections from Ohio St. in the mail on 1/30. Nothing in the mail today.
  8. I have been at work for three hours. I have checked my e-mail 42 times. Good or bad, I just want to hear something! At this point waiting is so much worse than rejection.
  9. I spoke with the department at Penn and they said they recieved an "unbelievably vast amount of applications" this year. I assume other schools did as well. Just food for thought....
  10. Admits? If so, congratualtions! Which schools?
  11. Did anyone else apply to NC State? If so, did you get a phone call from the school? I got a message saying that my app was received and was now being reviewed by the full committee. I am taking this to mean that I made the long list. Has anyone else had a school call and tell them something similar? I am confused. Is it common to call applicants and tell them their app is being reviewed? And do you think they called everyone on the long list? Any insights are appreciated. And I have to say that it is GREAT to hear something! Especially since it wasn
  12. I stressed how my graduate education (MBA) and work experience (former VP) provide me with a unique perspective. I was very general in describing my research interests. I hope that doesn
  13. Penn, Cornell, Ohio St., SUNY Albany, UMass, NC State, Georgia I decided not to apply to Duke, UNC, and Virginia. Now I wish I had. Ever since I submitted my last app I am questioning everything!!!
  14. I sent a head shot of Brad Pitt with my name on it. I'm just hoping that the adcoms have so many apps to review that they don't notice.
  15. I should have phrased that differently. A good back story can be a lot of things (including research conducted, research proposals, etc). The point was that a person with a 4.0 and 1600 GRE isn
  16. Hey tutnyce, more power to you! I wish you the best! I know my credentials make admission at those schools VERY unlikely. But I did apply to Penn and Cornell. You never know!
  17. My mom is the chair of a graduate program at a top 20 university. She agreed that this is the typical admissions process. She also stressed to me that no matter how strong your credentials are there are at least 10 applications that are just as strong, or stronger. Especially at top schools. The best schools reject more qualified applicants than they admit. A good back story goes a long way. Food for thought.
  18. Congrats! It is a great feeling to be done. Then you realize that someone else is determining where you'll spend the next 5+ years of your life What schools did you apply to?
  19. I was feeling pretty confident while working on my apps. But now that they are completely out of my control, I
  20. Fortunately, I live in one of those areas where prices are still rising (although minimally). And my specific neighborhood is unique for the area and homes are still selling relatively quickly (60 days). I just hope that the market is the same in a few months when we try to sell! That would be great if the market does bottom in Q3. I would love to buy another home instead of renting while in school. But, I think a Q3 bottom is wishful thinking and see this thing playing out over a couple more years, IMHO. Britt
  21. I submitted all of my applications, which is a great relief. But now I
