  1. Hello, I hate to be that person but did all decisions come out today or are they rolling them out this week. I applied along with a few of my friends and we have had no correspondence whatsoever. I only saw a few posts but I'm assuming there is more coming? Any insight would be great. Thanks!
  2. Do not worry at all. I'm currently at UNC and there are several people in my cohort who are over forty and are in this program. They tend to have a great rapport with the professors and the students really value their insight. Many individuals are leaving second careers and heading into the program.
  3. Yes from what I gathered. All 100% and 75% scholarships were granted when decisions were given. There is a SLIGHT possibility that someone could decline it but it is extremely unlikely
  4. I just received my financial aid letter via email from Duke Div. I pray that everyone else receives their letters today so that they can make final decisions.
  5. Thank you everybody for the input and suggestions!! I will definitely look into all these options!
  6. Hello everyone, I have recently been accepted in the MSW/MDIV program at UNC-CH and Duke Divinity. I have been considering doctoral programs pending graduation. In discussing with UNC faculty and staff about my research interests, there is a consensus that it is a unique topic that affects both disciplines but can't quite give me guidance on whether it is feasible to pursue this with a PhD in Social Work. My research interest is spiritual violence or abuse that occurs in theo-centric communities, such as the African American faith traditions. My hope is to look at how the relationship between marginalized groups within the African American communities and the 'Black Church' creates trauma within communities and affects spiritual formation and identity development. I see how it affects the community on a service provision level and a theological level. However, I am struggling with finding people and programs who are: 1) interested in this work academically, 2) conducting current research about spiritual violence that is not linked to domestic violence, or 3) willing to provide insight on whether or not I could research this. If anyone is willing to give me some insight or assistance, I would greatly appreciate it.
  7. I am currently enrolled in the MSW program at UNC. I am reapplying for the dual degree program with Duke. The social work program is a great one. Here's hoping to see you in August!
  8. meaning the week of February 25 to March 1
  9. Hey all wait list and January 10th applicants, I just emailed admissions to find out if decisions will be dispersed this week or next week. According to the admissions office, they are making decisions this week and hope to notify all applicants by next week of their admission status. I'm sending prayers and sanity to all those who are waiting!
  10. It's a separate process. Once everyone turns in the financial aid form on the 30th, I think they will tell everyone about funding.
  11. Got my acceptance today!!! Hoping everyone else receives good news as well!
  12. Hey here's the link http://ssw.unc.edu/admissions/admissions_decisions
  13. When I checked the website for UNC, the admission department will send out notifications by April 15 for traditional students and March 15th for advanced standing students. Good luck everyone!
