  1. does harvard GSAS send aleso rejection letters by ordinary mail? I asked for infos and they told me they sent a letter to me, even if i didn't receive anything yet
  2. well folks, there's a thing to know: if you ask about the reasons of a rejection, you will never have a clear answer!
  3. Is it possible to ask informations about decisions, after being rejected?
  4. Yes, Moste teaches here and Gian Biagio Conte is our latin professor.
  5. Italian programs won't be opened until September... well of course I will apply here, but the problem now in Italy is that there's no money at all and very few job opportunities studying Classics... I tought I had good chances in the USA, but it looks I've been rejected from everything is from the other side of Ocean. I am glad you got your target, wish you all the best since you have always been very kind with me, soleil. Just curious about one point: does anybody know the Scuola Normale di Pisa here??
  6. Well, I perfectly understood your point of view, even if I have never meant I had a meaningless SOP. I tought that my institution, my experience and what I did in the past was not enough to be choosen, but at least to be interviewed or waitlisted. If no one of these things matters, there's still my question around: why do they choose? I know what I want and I know what I did, and if somebody is so curious about it I can be more precise explaining my SOP to you, if this could be helpful somehow. Soleil, this means I have to take Harvard as a rejection too? how lovely
  7. who knows any news from Harvard?
  8. I tought it was a good thing for me to have already ten years behind me in both latin and greek, since wwe begin at 14 in Italy... well, I was wrong
  9. Well it can be so... after all I really cannot say anything about the way they decide, maybe you are right and my curriculum even if generally good is not what they are looking for. Thanks anyway, everybody here is very kind and useful. IF there's somebody who know something more, please let me know. P. S. is it true that in the United States you generally have no latin or greek experience before university?
  10. I hope it's not so, that would be a nightmare anyway, does anybody have news from Columbia and Harvard? These are the ones I'm still waiting from
  11. Thanks Soleil for your kind words well, I don't know how the american system works but I already wrote a thesis for my bachelor and now I am working on another one for my master degree... in addition to this as a student of Scuola Normale I had to write a dissertation for each ear of study, so that I already discusses five of them. I translated a part of my bachelor dissertation as a writing sample and even if my english cannot be perfect of course that was judged "excellent" by the examining board and when it will be finished my professor here really wants to publish it. I still don't understand what could be wrong with me application, since they did not ask me for an interview neither.
  12. Does anybody know what universities want? I have a ten years experience in both latin and greek, one paper, student of Scuola Normale superiore of Pisa, and already two rejections from Ivies... well I am quite disappointed about it xD
