Hi! I currently live in DC and am considering leaving my full time job to go to grad school FT at either NYU or Penn. I'm trying to work out the budget specifics before I make my decision - any thoughts on how the cost of living compares in each city? I know it all depends on individual standards, but any thoughts for someone who's not looking to live in a luxury apartment but also not looking to eat ramen every night? I'm comparing a guess at an average rent of $1,000 in NYC to $800 in Philly - sound about right? And so on that it's about 20% cheaper in Philly? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Following up on my earlier question - - has anyone who learned via their GWU Trachtenberg admissions email that they were being considered in the "pool of funding" actually get their official letter via snail mail with the $ amount yet? GWU is the last place I'm waiting to hear back from on $...

Hi all I'm in at GWU Trachtenberg (MPA) and when I received the email notification of my acceptance, I was told that I was in the pool being considered for funding - and that any award would be sent via the official notification via snail mail. Has anyone in this same situation received their letter/offer via snail mail yet? GWU is the only school left where I'm waiting to hear on funding... Thanks!

Anyone know if funding offers have been made by American SPA or GWU Trachtenberg for MPA candidates?

Thanks for posting. I, too, am wondering about whether this is renewable for the second year of full-time study. My letter said my award was "for study as a full-time student in the 2012-2013 academic year" - but no mention of whether that would be renewable for 2013-2014. Did anyone get funding for multiple years?

I see that you're an IR applicant - perhaps they just sent the award notification with the admissions from the School of International Service? I applied for an MPA, which is through AU's School of Public Affairs (SPA) so since it's technically a different school, maybe they do it differently. Thanks!

Hi all, Thought I'd post after lurking on here for a while. I'm in at American, GW, GPPI, NYU Wagner and UPenn Fels - and, of course, weighing the financial aspects. I've heard financial offers from Wagner, and I know Fels is planning to release everything via email tomorrow (3/15) - - but any word on when AU, GW or GPPI might let accepted students know about any merit awards, etc.? Has anyone heard? Congrats all on acceptances to date!
