  1. Don't give up hope just yet! My cousin was put on SDSU's waitlist a couple years ago - then was accepted to her first choice program! You still have a good chance of being admitted. The sucky part is just that it makes the waiting game even longer. Better than a flat out rejection, right? :P

What options did LB give you?

LB didn't give me any options. Just a generic "pending status" letter.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but SDSU said my application was "exceptional and is acceptable" (and then something about I would have been accepted had there been space)

Did they tell your cousin what position they had on the waitlist by chance? Do you think I could ask?

  2. I'm totally deflated guys...

I'm on the waiting list at BOTH CSULB and SDSU...

SDSU gave me the option of: 1) Removing my name from the waiting list 2)Stay on the wait list and consider me for both the 2 and 3 year programs 3) Only be considered for the 2 year program.

    I took option 2.

I'm so not getting in... :(

  3. I turned in my app a couple of days prior to Jan. 15th and got a response last week saying I was not able to get in. I'm not too sure why, but I might send them an email to see how I could strengthen my application. I really wanted to go there, but now I'm hoping to get into CSULB's program.

I know this is a thread for CSULB, but is it true that SDSU gives priority to local students before out of towners? I hope CSULB doesn't do that. =/

Hey sooperGILLY, would you mind sharing your stats? I applied to SDSU and my webportal says my app is under review since Jan 11th. I submitted on Jan. 10th. I emailed them and said my review was complete on Feb. 20th but I still haven't got a letter. I wonder why. My review is complete, you would think that I would get a letter no matter what the decision was, right?

  4. I applied to SFSU MSW Program for fall 2012. I check my admission status every day, 2-3 times a day. Does anyone know if they email you or not? I went in to the application process having NO clue that it was one of the most competitive programs to get into in the nation. I had already started my application so I just said why not finish it, and kept going. I am nervous now, but I feel like my statement, and my letters were very strong, as was my GPA. I think it's kind of lame how much emphasis all of these programs put on work experience. I have a few seperate volunteer sources and work sources within social work, but aren't we going into these programs in order to find work? Has anyone heard from SFSU either way? I turned my application in right near the deadlne, but I don't think that will make a big difference. Ok, thanks for your time! Good luck!

Same! I didn't know it was a competitive! I feel like I have a really strong application, but only about a year of experience

I think it is pretty lame about the work experience too. I mean, I get it, it's important, I just wish they could see by my application that I was really busy being a great student! Obviously I want to do social work or else I wouldn't have chosen to spend a lot of money, time, and hard work getting a graduate degree, ya know?! haha :D Isn't the point of going to grad school to get the experience? haha Oh well, I haven't heard, but I'll let you know when I do!
