  1. CrazedRaven, apply to the King's College Program (MA World History and Cultures)..it's a very similar program and the professors there are excellent...to all those who haven't received anything from Columbia yet, there's a good chance that you may have been accepted (although, PLEASE don't take my word for it). As far as I can tell, GSAS Columbia has sent out notifications to all the waitlisted or rejected applicants, but not yet to those that have been accepted. I know that I've been accepted because I spoke with the program co-ordinator, but I still haven't received any emails/ notifications from GSAS confirming this. Anyway, look into the KCL program...some of the professors there are the best in their field and if you're into colonial/imperial history, it's definitely the best in the UK (perhaps other than Oxford). Good luck to everyone else!
  2. Thanks Arcyoung. Have you heard anything yet? P. S. I wonder if the admin of GSAS at Columbia ever look at this page and laugh at how stressed out we get!!
  3. haha, nah the wait is just so agonising...I'm normally a positive person, but honestly my chances of getting into this program aren't very high at all. I would just like to know so I can accept my other offer and forget about the whole admissions process....until the PhD that is!! (Coolio: "I'll see you when you get there....if you ever get there..." starts running through my mind..very random)
  4. nothing yet...anyone phoned in, received an email?
  5. I wonder if that'll be notifications of rejection or acceptance...or both...I hope that I at least make it on to the waiting list! Did anyone out there request an earlier review, receive an offer, and then accept the offer?
  6. Is that via email, snail mail or on the admissions portal?? Cheers
  7. Anyone heard anything from Columbia? It's been a bit too quiet for my liking....
  8. Yeah true 'arcyoung'...let's stay positive though. There are a lot of 'normal' students admitted into the program. Who knows, maybe we'll both get in?! Btw, what are everyone's specific historical interests/ areas? I know you don't have to come up with a thesis topic for your SOP, but I imagine that they may be looking for a wide array of historical interests amongst their prospective students. Fuck it...excuse my expletive but I'm actually tired of caring/ worrying about this application...I get in or I don't...life goes on either way..If not, I do hope that King's accepts me..they've got a good program there.
  9. Agree with Arcyoung: some of the students should be applying for government positions or something...I'm sorry, but what is Andrea Batista Schlesigner doing in this course?? Surely she is far too qualified or experienced to be studying this particular Masters....Oseirus, are you in the same league as them? You're not an Obama advisor, are you? haha...there are a lot of students who are quite normal...surprisingly enough, not as many international students as I'd thought though
  10. No...........just the MA/MSc...also applied to King's College London..similar program
  11. And what's the deal with the downloadable forms folder on the application portal?...I haven't noticed any changes on my Application Status form..are there meant to be any changes?
  12. This may be a ridiculous question, but how are they going to let us know if we got in or not? I mean, what about those of us who are overseas students—I doubt we'll get a call from them!!...regular post or email?? Oseirus, anyone been accepted yet? A Basil Fawlty classic: "Hello?... Ah, yes Mr O'Reilly, well it's perfectly simple. When I asked you to build me a wall I was rather hoping that instead of just dumping the bricks in a pile you might have found time to cement them together... you know, one on top of another, in the traditional fashion."
  13. Anyone heard anything from the World & International History at Columbia? Oseirus, I read your post in the other thread— how do you know that someone has already been accepted? Cheers
