  1. I am going to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for a PhD in linguistics.
  2. I was surprised to wake up to an offer email as well! schoolpsych_hopeful, I would certainly reapply next year even if you did not get an HM this year. Familiarity with the application expectations and the reviewers' comments will probably make your application substantially better next time around.
  3. Congratulations, cunninglinguist! I hope that you get full funding and everything!
  4. Yes, congratulations to those accepted to MIT! I will be attending UMass next fall! MIT rejected me from the wait list and I still have yet to hear from Maryland. I'm pretty excited about UMass though.
  5. gcr26, that is something that I have been wondering as well. I also applied for a GRFP in linguistics. I noticed that for past years there are roughly the same number of linguistic awards each year. This could be coincidence however.
  6. I received an email to check the application website which had posted a generic acceptance letter. Another one of my classmates here at the U received the same email and letter. I do hope that you get accepted too! I know that graduate funding is limited, but I also know that the department really needs TAs because the graduate-student numbers have been dwindling, but the undergraduate numbers are increasingly quite quickly.
  7. I was accepted into the U of M's MA programme. I am an undergraduate at the U and the linguistics department is fairly small, so I already know the faculty well. It is my safety school, but the professors are great!
  8. Well, this thread created a whole new thing for me to check obsessively: maintenance schedules.
  9. I have been following this thread for a few weeks, i.e. lurking, so I finally decided to make an account and post something, at least to acknowledge the usefulness of this thread. Like everyone else, I have been checking my email obsessively, particularly for finalised wait-list results. I have been accepted to the University of Minnesota. I am on the wait lists for UMass and MIT. I was rejected from UC Santa Cruz. I am still waiting to hear back from the University of Maryland, but I'm not hopeful since I did not receive an invitation to their open house.
