  1. I saw similar thread in another forum, and I though it might be nice to start one here. For those of you who made their final decisions, if you care to share, which school are you going to attend? I also think this would also be a good place to ask for advice or support while making your decision. I am going to attend Yale (theoretical linguistics), is anyone else here going to attend Yale too?
  2. I followed the advises given here, and wrote one paragraph, thanking the potential advisors for their time and for the hosting, and explaining I chose to go to Awesomeness University instead of theirs since it better suits my research interest. While one of the potential advisors was kind and answered nicely, the other potential advisor was quite unpleasant. He wrote: "It's plain to me that either I'm missing something big about what you plan to do, or that someone who's advising you in Where-I-Am-Right-Now has a shockingly different opinion of His-Department and/or Awesomeness Department than I have, but in either case I wish you well". It was two days ago and I still feel crappy. It made me feel so bad. I considered his university mostly because of him, and had really good time during the visit... My advisor says I should take it as a compliment, reflecting how much he wanted to have me as a student, I hope that this is indeed the case and that it will not affect our possible relationship in the future, I would really like to work with him in the future if it would be possible. Sorry for the long post, I had to share :-(
  3. Oh, bummer. I thought the fact Northwestern sent some rejections but haven't decided regarding my case was a good sign. Apparently it wasn't. Well, the interview with Yale is today, and Yale was always a favorite, I hope it will go well
  4. Rutgers are so weird. They sent me what seemed to be a super polite rejection, in which they said I am welcome to ask to join their waitlist. I thought it was just politeness, but I was apparently waitlisted. And Yale's interview requests/open house invitations are out (or at least some of them are out), good luck to all of you who applied there!
  5. I hear you - I'm going crazy trying to figure out if Northwestern just forgot about me or is it a good sign that other people got rejected through the website, while my status declares that a decision has not been rendered yet
  6. Oh, and - Funology, you do have awesome acceptances, congrats!!
  7. Mine isn't. It still says: "An admissions decision has not yet been rendered". Going crazy.
  8. This is an accurate summery of my week too, LOL. Welcome, @travgrad, I keep my fingers crossed for you (and me, and everyone else on this thread).
  9. . This *is* weird. They sent me mine on October 12th. What does it all mean? (going crazy, it probably means nothing).
  10. I got an unofficial e-mail from UT Austin on February 1st, and the official notification came today (the 6th). My status at the website changed today to "admitted", so maybe you should check it now. UCLA is one of my top choices and I am afraid that Funology's good news means bad news for me. I will find out soon enough, I guess. And congrats for all the acceptances, you people ROCK!
  11. Just got rejected by my first choice (Stanford). Ouch. What the %$#@ is going on in California this year? It seems that both Berkeley and Stanford had an unusual large amount of applicant. Now I am worried about UCLA more than I was before.
  12. @wlkwih2 and @Triple Tall Cappuccino - I had my interview with Harvard today (I mistakenly wrote February 4th on the result survey page, should have been 3rd), and they told me that decisions are due at the end of the month, so there is still plenty of time. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!
  13. It was an E Mail from the graduate advisor. The online status still says "in review". Their open house is on March 1-3.
  14. I am also waiting for their response, although I am a little less stressed now, that I got admitted by UT Austin (what a sneaky way to announce it, i know ). Judging by previous years they should let us know very soon. So happy about the admission, for the first time since I submitted the application forms I do not feel completely like a fraud.
  15. Congrats, PhDreaming! I keep my fingered crossed for me (my top choice hasn't replied yet to anyone as far as I know, come on already!!) and for everyone else on this thread.
