Has anyone else been checking their status page for Penn? Mine shows that it was "completed" yesterday. I was sure my application was complete before, but I don't remember if it said this on the site when I checked it. Does it just refresh this timestamp daily or something? What could it mean!!?? Also this update from the Chicago Division of Social Sciences might be of interest. History is part of this division at Chicago - guess it'll be a long wait? "Applications for the 2013-2014 academic year are currently being reviewed by faculty. Decisions will be released in the first week of March."

It looks like a lot of them came same day but others came a day or two later? In any case, I haven't gotten mine yet. Telling off us rejects is not a priority with a storm approaching.

Things just got so much worse. I've been threatened with the loss of my job. I need an acceptance!

I haven't even been contacted about an interview anywhere. Something was clearly terribly wrong with my app.

Wow, Lafayette, your situation sounds a lot like mine - Columbia was a good fit for me, and I got the terrifying iPhone buzz-blast too (and hoped it was a call). But at least you have an acceptance! (was JHU not so great a fit? That gives me hope that another program might still pick me.) I'll take some solace in the fact that I can still maybe stay in NY if NYU takes me...but it's looking more and more like my application must've been a huge dud and no one will. hdunlop - thanks. I can't believe how many art history results there are. It seems like some schools have more in the budget for that than the history of everything else...

Ach, more delay. Where I'm from originally, a foot of snow would not normally shut down anything. Maybe at least Cornell will be used to it and notify... Anyway, I'm assuming the worst for Columbia anyway after today's calls.

Hm, okay, looks like it's definitely decision day at Columbia...at least for acceptees...

I believe they've said it's just not working this year. Nothing to do but await the email thumbs up or down...

A Columbia acceptance is up. Anyone want to reveal if it was a POI leak or if there's an indication that all acceptances are out? (It would be nice in general if everyone who posted an acceptance did this!)

My understanding is that only some admits are invited, and some maybes who later either get accepted or rejected, but that not being invited doesn't equal rejection by any means. What I wonder now is whether all these invites are out or whether this person received special notice.

Seriously...the waiting is getting so aggravating, especially given all the predictions this would be an "early" year! I'm just going to chalk it up to the need to make difficult decisions, if only to make myself feel like my application hasn't been lingering this whole time on the auto-reject pile. Last year there seemed to be clusters around the 8th/9th and the 14th, so hold your breath, I guess...

I'm rather curious about the Virginia admit and whether he/she received a special call or if acceptances are out in general...

You emailed it? On all of my applications the writing sample was an upload. Maybe that's why they didn't have it?

It looks like it already (sort of) broke one person's heart, at least if he/she was intent on the History Dept. (the app that was transferred to East Asian Studies). I'm too afraid to check the website to see if they've done anything to mine. Just going to wait on the mass email...

This is another concern I've had, although I guess it's not really one I'll really have the luxury to be concerned with until I have some sort of acceptance in hand. But still - is it even a good idea to go to a school that's clearly playing that waiting game to your application, and only maybe begrudgingly admitted you when others dropped off the radar screen?

Thanks! It's just so unnerving when you've heard absolutely nothing except for a login-required rejection and others are getting personal emails...hopefully this will be a big week for decisions so we know more either way.

Ahh, whoops. Next time I'll check people's signatures/profiles before getting so concerned. Good luck with the interviews!

I'm beginning to think I can cross Princeton off my list. I'd be surprised if six profs wanted to interview kyjin prior to admission but took me without one. I have the feeling most potential admits to Penn and NYU are getting interviews as well?

Rationally, I know, and you must know it does not mean that. But I can't help thinking it as well

Thanks so much for the recap, lafayette. I've been dreading the possibility of an interview but I'd definitely feel better about one than the silence/rejection that's marked my experience so far!
