I haven't heard anything from Albany, and if nobody else has, that seems late. On the UC thing: I know the gossip is going in multiple directions, but thanks to everyone for trying to provide an accurate description of what is going on (especially Partinrn, who gave us the initial report, and altikr25, who called (?) to find out about the emails). Hopefully one of us will be admitted soon and can inform the board that the emails have indeed been sent out. I know it will calm me down considerably, even if the news is bad. :-)

Thanks for all of your intel! I just got an email from her on Thursday saying my file was complete. That would be an awfully fast turnaround! :-) [My file has been complete since mid-November]

Rutgers sent out an email this morning inviting people to finalist interviews on campus.

As long as your message is (obviously) pleasant and professional, I don't see how it could possibly hurt to get in touch with updated materials. I would just send an email to the PhD program director with the updated CV as an attachment. If they don't want to evaluate it, or if they have already done their review, they can just not read it. My GM portal just says "complete." I don't know that we'll get any more info. from GM until the weather goes through, and that means next week... :-(

They were due on January 1. These folks aren't in a hurry, are they? :-)

I also applied at John Jay and have not yet heard anything. Hopefully we can all agree to post when we hear from programs? I think many of them send out the first acceptances a good bit before sending out the rejections, and I for one would like to know sooner rather than later! :-)

Many of us are applying to master's or doctoral programs this year, and the most recent US News & World Report rankings for criminology were in 2009. Granted, the US News rankings aren't everything, but they are a helpful tool in assessing reputation... and they are way out of date. Are there are any more experienced students or faculty on this site who might care to weigh in with their impressions about how the rankings may have shifted since 2009? I have seen comments on this site about how School X is on the decline or School Y is on the rise, so there must be some opinions. Thanks in advance for anyone who has thoughts!

Irvine sent out invitations to its interview weekend this morning.

Hi all, New to all of this. I just looked over the 2014 and 2015 threads, which were super helpful. I have a couple of questions for anyone who might know: 1. When does UCI send out invitations for their interviews? They appear to be taking place pretty early this year - January 10-11 - so I assume we'll hear before the holidays? 2. How many people does UCI bring out? What is the experience like? Would anyone who went last year care to share? Thanks for any info...
