This forum is so funny that I can't stay away even though I am already done thinking about NSF. Seems like people who don't get NSF should consider careers as comedians. I wonder how long it takes for Friar.Tuck to write his comments.

so...tired...so...much...homework...

Well, maybe the fact that I and others have reported receiving rejection emails helps?

Man, where are your error bars? What is the p value? I want some evidence, son. The Bessel function describes how much I hate math. Science is crazy. Is it normal to transduce 4 genes into liver cells to make them stem cell-like? Inject a chemical into mice to give them tumors? All this is done by some obese graduate student rubbing cheetoes grease on their jeans talking about deals they found at the grocery store?

Yeah, proteasome is important. Add some proteasome inhibitor or knock out some ubiquitin ligases, probably treat some diseases. This year, everyone in this forum discovered this dominant negative NSF mutant that interferes with motor function and consequently getting anything done.

don't be so down and out, why can't you talk to people in charge of your program and ask them if there is some way you can get university funding or something? some girl did that in my program and got it.

it's all one big game, man. you get jason bourne, grow up, go to school, they play some mind games to induce some stress response, you go to college, get a job, get married, have kids. yeah...but everything is just some protein binding DNA, genes get upregulated, others get repressed. but cosby49 stays in the cytosol with half-life of 49 minutes, stabilized by some beta turn or winged helix domain or something. Then, NSF protein ubiquitinates cosby49 targeting it for degradation by the proteasome. but in the end, cosby49-26RT mutant in NSF binding site allows cosby49 to elude degradation, then it travels to France to study music and live the dream.

And what about antisocial science? My friend said he feels that most majors that end with "science" like "political science" are not real sciences (as opposed to something like biology I suppose, even though you could say "biological sciences"). I think the concept of society itself is something people have grappled with throughout history.

you still have not answered my question about the Hand Lotion Sciences program. Prospects look even better now that I will be joining that program. What is your PhD in when you graduate?

"from my mind" lol, too funny

man forget research. Getting some fellowship does not help you get some. become some hedge fund manager or something.
-
man, I should have accepted the prestigious fellowship offer and hot USC girls instead of choosing October through May winters, no fellowship and not doing research I want to do at a renowned research school. just something to consider: quality of life does matter. Not just weather, but the people you have to work with for the next 5 years (or more).

why am I still here? oh yeah, I don't want to do homework. "It's a outrage" -Rachel from As I Lay Dying "I've been in the Bible every day since I've been the president." -President George W. Bush "You boys got any t.p.? No? That's all right. I'll find something." -Coach from Saving Silverman

i think i did not get it because NSF does not like to fund medically-related projects and mine was pretty disease-related. I also kind of threw together my broader impacts...I guess I knew I had a strong feeling I would not get it all along.

time to get plastered. who's with me?
