I also got that email... did anyone get a straight up rejection or is the DOE just trying to make everyone feel "good"?

I think the application specifically says that the fellowship is treated like NSF grant applications and no appeals or "second looks" are granted.

If the DOE SCGF doesn't give out awards until after the NSF commit date, does that mean that more people who weren't offered NSF awards might have a better shot at the DOE...?

I applied two years ago and didn't get it. I know the DOE didn't offer this last year, but does anyone know if in 2010 (or before that... I know it's a pretty new program) there were "review sheets" like the NSF? Pretty sure DoD doesn't have them, but can anyone say about DOE?

E/VG VG/VG VG/VG My comments were all praise and had no suggestions whatsoever... but still didn't get it (or at least HM)? Guess that's the NSF for you.

Does anyone remember if there were major "false alarms" last year where 150 people were signed in just to find out nothing...?
