I'd be happy with something to put on my resume about it. I doubt that they'd be able to redirect us at the last minute (although I would NEVER say no to heading to Jordan :-), but just being able to put something on my resume or CV about it would be somewhat satisfactory. I haven't give up all hope yet, but am still applying for jobs and programs as quickly as I can.

*Sigh* I hear you! I have begun to look for other things to do. Be sure to post whenever you hear something...anything. I'll do the same.

Does anyone have updated news on the Egypt ETAs? I'd love to know what to do with the next year of my life 8) Thanks!

I still don't know anything either, Emily. I get the feeling our time is coming, though! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks for being proactive and checking it out, Emily. I was just about to re-contact Jermaine myself to find out what is going on. I too wonder what could possibly be causing the delay. Hopefully we'll all learn some news before it is too late for any other plans. Bettawfeeq!

I applied for an ETA in Egypt and recently emailed Jermaine Jones to find out where the process was to date. He told me that, unfortunately, I would end up waiting at least until the end of April if not into May for final notification. I'm not sure if this is the same for the ME/NA overall, but Jermaine's responses are prompt and courteous, so you could email to ask! Good luck and I hope your wait is more reasonable!

Just out of curiosity, did anyone have to send a scanned copy of their passport over to the IIE at any point? The director of ME and NA programs emailed me to get me to send a scanned copy of the first pages of my passport over to him so that it could be forwarded onward to the host country (in this case, Egypt). I am trying to assess a) if this is a hopeful thing and if so, how hopeful? Has anyone else gotten a request like this and, if so, have you been offered a grant afterward? Thanks for the insights :-)

Congrats to all confirmed Fulbrighters! I'm waiting on final notification on an ETA in Egypt for 2009-2010. Anyone else hoping to work in Egypt for the year? Has anyone received notification about a position in Egypt? Good luck to all!
