I could see how many are offered in your selection committee at CGS and PGS levels. I contacted nserc in late April to find out my ranking and I could see that I was 6 places below the CGS cutoff. I received an email in the beginning of June (1st week sometime) telling me I had been upgraded to a CGS.
I was upgraded from a PGSD to a CGSD in June last year. I was ranked six spots below the cutoff for CGS level awards, so at least 6 people must have declined the CGS in my category. I would assume that at least six people on the wait list were then offered PGS awards.
got upgraded to CGS last week (Tues) by email from grad studies and by mail (friday) from nserc ... on the west coast. Good luck to everyone out there waiting.
2 journal publications as first author, 6 conference presentations. Another lab mate of mine got a CGSD - they had 2 pubs, better undergrad grades and more smaller scholarships/awards than me. A third in my dept. got a PGSD and they had one journal as 1st author and one journal submitted as 2nd author. Thank you for all the congratulations... I hope to return them tomorrow or soon!!
Not lying, and I take slight offense to your comment. I have been a guest on the forum for a month and watched the ups and downs of all the posts. The grad advisor told me that I had been offered a PGSD3 - that is all the information she had and that it had an 'O' beside it for offered. I am sorry I cannot be more specific, and I hope that you all receive your awards as well.
