  1. After 3 years of applying for this grant, it's baffling to me why ASEE sticks to the "we're waiting for feedback and this isn't a waitlist" story. That doesn't make sense since the process is: almost all the acceptances go out at once (along with some rejections), everyone else is told to wait, a few more acceptances are sent out, and then everyone else is sent rejections. Is it just me or does that not sound like a waitlist scenario?? Anyway, if the past 2 years are any indication, we should be getting final rejections this week.
  2. Just got a text from a friend at UC Berkeley that award notices have gone out in Psychology & Behavioral Sciences. Pretty safe to assume that award notices have gone out to all the fields?
  3. If the last 2 years are any indication -- we should be getting the final decision 1st week of May.
  4. Thank you for checking! Although they said exactly the same thing last year. Overall, given the lack of transparency in this process, we won't get very far by speculating.
  5. What (so far) seems different this year is that no one got outright rejections today. Last year, this email seemed like a waitlist, but maybe this year they just sent it to everyone who wasn't awarded.
  6. 2 years ago, we didn't get any initial notification. Last year, there were a few people who got an award after getting the waitlist email - so there is still hope! Both years, I got the final notification the 1st week of May. Since the acceptance deadline is 4/17 (per mcknoche, above), seems like we should hear about the same time again, as they notify waitlisted people based on acceptance replies.
  7. Congrats mcknoche & galapagos!! What was the acceptance deadline they gave you? My guess is that's when us waitlisters can expect a final decision.
  8. The year before last, I think we heard in late April. Then last year, we got a first-cut notification early in April & the final notification went out first week of May. Hopefully they'll do the first-cut thing again this year. This is my 3rd (and last year) playing the NDSEG game!
  9. Just got my annual NDSEG rejection email...
  10. Last year I got the rejection email on May 4th. For what it's worth.
  11. It's like an edge-of-your-seat thriller without the movie theater admission cost!
  12. Wow, fmrp -- the pressure is getting to you! Speaking of chilling out. I know for me - since I am not eligible for the NSF because I work on human health issues - there will of course be a wish that people who can apply all the fellowships, leave something for the rest of us! It's a competition but it's not in an ad hominem way. Having said that... It is pretty gd lame of the NDSEG powers that be to let this go past not only the 4/15 typical program deadline but even past the NSF response deadline. If the DOD historically takes 5+ months to make decisions, then move the application deadline back. Yeesh.
  13. That's if you got the notification on 4/3, right? They're still sending out awards -- cp13 got notification on Monday. I'd guess they'll give people like that more than 48 hours to accept/decline.
  14. When do you have to accept/decline by? I'm wondering how long this rolling awards process is going to last.
  15. It depends on your field. There used to be a table that listed the historical award rate based on discipline but I can't find it now (maybe they took it down this year). Things like oceanography were super high award rates and then biosciences was low, something like 5%.
