  1. how different is the project based MS from the MEng degree? and specifically between the non-thesis ms at cmu and meng at cornell, for electrical.
  2. they claim cornell to be more industry oriented, yet the job options are better from cmu?
  3. Hi, I'm in a fix to decide between the MS in ECE at Carnegie Mellon University, and the MEng in ECE at Cornell. If its the course at CMU, i prefer to specialize on advanced control systems, but if its cornell, i would like to specialize in energy systems. I would appreciate if anyone could pitch in with your suggestions! Thank you so much!
  4. my overall profile goes like this: a cumulative gpa of 7.9/10 after 3 years, 3 journal publications, a government funded project (Tamil nadu state) and an intern at schlumberger, toefl score is 109 (26 reading+26 listening+28 speaking+29 writing). so how would you rate a profile like this? assuming my sop and lor's are good, where do i stand?
  5. i got a 318/340 in the gre, 168 in quants and 150 in verbal and 4.5 in awa. I'm looking to apply for a masters in electrical. do i stand a chance in making it to top 20 schools in the us?
  6. Hi! I took my GRE yesterday, got 150/170 in my verbal, and 168/170 in quants. I'm looking to apply for an electrical engineering major. Where do i stand? am i likely to lose out on top schools because of my verbal score?? I've also got 3 journal publications and 1 international conference. My cumulative grade is around 8.1/10 and i'm in my fourth year of under grads. What are my chances and which schools am i likely to get admits from?
  7. I'm currently in my pre-final year of my undergraduate program in electrical engineering. It would be really helpful if you could tell me how much it would help me if I present papers at international conferences or even have 1 or 2 journal publications under my name. I am looking to pursue my higher studies in the field of electrical engineering, an MS degree probably.
