  1. Hey everyone, I just got into SJSU. I live in San Francisco so I'm really close but I've never really been to San Jose much. I'm worried about being about to find affordable housing. Has anyone seen the campus? I've heard it's pretty nice.
  2. My biggest mistake was that I got so keyed up I skipped one of the built in breaks. It felt like a good idea at the time but half way through the third section I got really overwhelmed. So even if you think you're on a roll I would take advantage of the time they give you to relax a little. That’s my advice at least, but everyone is different. If the test center will let you bring a granola bar or something it might be a good idea to have something to eat as well. When I skipped my last break I got really overwhelmed and then hungry and that was incredibly distracting.
  3. So I'm still waiting on most of my schools to get back to me, but I've started thinking about my plan B options. If I don't get into grad school this year I want to apply again for the spring or next fall, but here is my question. Won't it be weird asking professors that I haven't seen for months to write me another letter of recommendation? I hope my professors will remember me, as I know them quite well, but what if they don’t? Should I ask them to save the letters of recommendation that wrote me this year so I can reuse them next year? Has anyone had experience with this? I just don’t know how to handle re-applying after I graduate, if it comes to that.
  4. It's driving me crazy. Is anyone else waiting on this? They said it should be out in the end of April or early May so we probably have at least a couple of weeks yet.
  5. The deadline for a program was on March 23rd. I decided to apply last minute and thought the deadline was April 23rd. When I submitted my application it said that they still accepting application but on a "space available basis only." What exactly does that mean for my chances of acceptance? Does it mean that they will only be accepting more applications if the program doesn't fill up?
  6. Thanks, that's very good advice. Networking with the professors could only help. GRE scores are optional, but I’m not sure if I should submit mine. I got a 158 verbal and 149 quantitative and 4.5 on my essay. Do you think they’re good enough to submit? I know they’re not spectacular.
  7. Hey Guys, I am about to graduate and I'm applying for grad school I was wondering if I should even bother applying to UCSF's MS in Global Health program. I fulfill their basic requirements but I know that UCSF is very competitive. My GPA is low because I got some bad grades my sophomore year. Here are my stats: Major: Anthropology/Public Health Cumulative GPA: 3.27 Major GPA: 3.56 I have two years of research experience in public health I have professor willing to write me very good letters of recommendation I’ve written two published journal articles I’ve also written an article on water quality for a local newspaper. This program does not ask for GRE scores. My GPA is low because I’ve taken a lot of natural science courses that most Anthropology majors haven’t. Do you think I even have a shot a UCSF? I read the post about not asking about "chances" of getting in. I'm just wondering if you guys think it's worth applying.
