Yep, just received the email Looks like we need to formally accept the bursary first and then we'll have to wait until they approve the amounts etc. If you have any student loans with Quebec, the info they ask for isn't much compared to it
-
You can already go into your file and accept the bursary so I'm guessing the emails will follow soon Just to make sure I accepted right away they can't take it away from me now I hope
-
Same here, I was just about to post Congratulations! What a f*cking relief, I think my heart skipped a bit when I saw the PDF online but I hadn't gotten an email I was freaking out
-
Thanks a lot for the update DMMS18! Now I can stop checking email and doing refreshes every hour Good luck to you!

I had an answer from a woman named Sarah. I would think the emails are just assigned to a pool of people to transfer/answer or that there are changes with the summer vacation. I am also first on my committee so I am very nervous too. If there's a second round and I don't make it, I know for a fact that my chances of getting a third round will be very low and will work on a new application for next year. All the best to both of us then!
-
After an answer like that, I'm starting to wonder too... It's pretty late for a second offer compared to previous years (some had a second offer in mid-june and by now had a third one on the way). The other possibility is that there will only be a second offer and nothing else. I mean it's going to be mid-July by the end of the week already. Or perhaps the lady was upset because they get a lot of these requests or she was told not to give details (which technically is what they're supposed to do I think)... Either way we can only wait and hope for now. It's just unnerving because I need to know pretty soon whether I need to prepare a new application or not
-
Hi there, I emailed them today in the end (couldn't wait...). Here's what I got as a reply, it's much less exciting than the one you got Les détails concernant la possibilité d'offres subséquentes ne sont jamais connus à l'avance. S'il advenait que le Fonds puisse bonifier l'offre de 2012-2013, une annonce en serait faite sur le la page d'accueil de internet. Nous vous recommandons de le consulter régulièrement afin d'en être informé Here's to hoping there's an offer made soon!

Hi there Thanks a lot for the update. I will five it another week and if i get no news by then i will email them and post their answer in this forum. Here's to (yet) more waiting!
-
Hi there, I was wondering if anybody had any sort of input regarding any expectations one might have regarding the second offers from the FQRSC for applications filed in 2011 for the B2 bursaries. They made their first offer a while back and looking at the previous years announcements I would have expected second offers to happen around mid to end of June but nothing yet. Any ideas as to whether it's going to happen at all or the student strike made them so mad they decided not to make any second offers ? It's a bit unnerving for the people who have been wait listed... Thanks for any info. I'd like to now whether I have to work on a new application or not . All the best Ducon

Sorry to hear that DMMS18, although it leaves room for hope so don't despair! Out of curiosity do they tell you in which position you are on the waiting list for the SSHRC? to everybody else: I think that overall, these results so far show that no matter how much we speculate about that kind of stuff, we don't know until we get the letters . For instance, some were claiming that the chances to be selected if your school had selected you were pretty good. In my case, that's really not how it went. I'm currently in the acceptance phase where I want to call up my school and ask them whether they forgot to mail half of my application or something considering the fact that I have a very low score. It's pretty much like I feel somebody else should have been selected because their chances would have been better than mine in this process. Anyway, tonight I will raise my glass to quench my sorrows and have a thought for all those who share my misery and for all those who were selected, for whom I sincerely wish all the best and am sure they more than deserved to be selected! (it just sucks that I didn't get it )
-
I didnt get it either And I got a pretty bad grade actually. To the point where I wonder why my school even considered my application at all... Oh well, can't say I'm not disappointed though...
-
Grr! Still No mail here neither!
-
Still no mail delivery here neither (Montreal as well)... Keep on crossing fingers and sh*tting my pants for a while I guess Congratulations to to you guys!
-
Would love it but I highly doubt tomorrow will be the day unfortunately. Oh well it's the last mile
-
Great! The one day I don't check this forum is the day thy mail the stuff Shit fuck shit fuck shit fuck... Oh well I guess it's only a few more days until we are all out of our misery. Good luck to all!
-
Agreed here. I hereby promise to have a thought for all here when I drink tonight, tomorrow night, and on friday night (I have good reasons: long day, friend coming over, friend getting married) Dakon, I feel for you (regarding the French Post, I'm French, I know how much they suck )
-
Yup, thanks for the update, it's much appreciated!
-
Nope. the only significant result I can give so far is that drinking only temporarily helps with the wait and hinders the studying process on the next day
-
The mind plays tricks it seems I've read my application yesterday and told myself it was really crap (although at the time I thought I did my best). I think the idea is that we all did our best and have an equal chance at it. Now, what happens is completely outside our control so might as well drink while we wait I have no prior scholarships from SSHRC. From my school I had a couple of awards but nothing major at all.
-
can't wait to have the opportunity to teach... I might be full of illusions but I'm super motivated in doing it Alas, no teaching before comprehensive exams for us (understandably so mind you...).

re:cathea, in my field, the time to publish is usually around 2 years from what I've heard. Which means I would have had to publish something during my Msc. Worst thing is that I had the opportunity to start something on the side but I was in a hurry and figured I'd get back to working full time afterwards and not consider a Phd ever... ouch! I've been pondering the consequences of this very simple decision back then and pretty mad at myself for not doing it. At the time it made sense but had I known I was going to do a Phd (or even consider it!) I would have done it in a heartbeat. Morale of the story: when you have the opportunity, even if you don't seem to see what it can bring you, you may want to do it anyway, just for the future, in case . Right now, I am really hoping that the evaluation process for SSHRC is so different from FQRSC that I either get it, or end up at the bottom (right after the cutoff's got to suck). I'll be drinking to that tonight, the paper I have to write can wait
-
Interesting... What seems to have killed me is the fact that I don't have anything published yet too... I fared better on the rest. Just thinking about having to go through the process again is depressing as well
-
I don't have it handy here, sorry. But I'm in management and I'm also 1st on my waiting list. same thing as you. I'm not too hopeful for SSHRC but I'm hoping somebody ahead of me will get it so I get bumped :-). My only hope is that the SSHRC criteria are different from FQRSC although it's not clear how the marking works exactly.
-
I would agree with you DMMS18. I think it's just bureaucracy at that point. Decisions have probably been made a few weeks ago imho. Now it's about printing letters, labels, sending them etc. From their perspective it doesn't really matter whether people wait an extra week or not ;-)
-
(new member here, been lurking around since last week after being put on waiting list for FQRSC and biting my nails for SSHRC...). Haven't heard anything from anybody yet neither around here. In the meantime I'll keep on working on that ulcer ;-) Good luck to all by the way (I know this is a competition but still...).
