I was accepted to a grad program at NYU (Tisch) off the wait-list this week and it's my dream program. I was offered $18,000 in funding through scholarships, a sponsored internship, and work study.
I'm rather green when it comes to the subject of grad school funding, and I know that NYU generally doesn't offer much aid, but the hefty price tag definitely has me concerned (especially since I already have around 30K in undergrad loan debt)
I suppose I have a few questions:
Is this a typical financial offer from NYU? Is it appropriate to negotiate aid when you've been accepted off the wait list, or is this considered ungrateful? Should I be thrilled about my offer as it stands?
I'm the first in my immediate family to get this far in higher education, so I'm really unfamiliar with the territory. I appreciate any suggestions and advice.
