  1. Actually I don't know. I am going to look for one
  2. I honestly don't think you could go wrong, as they are both powerhouses. At this point, I would choose Harvard simply because I would much rather be in Boston than Baltimore.
  3. I am sure you can (they couldn't stop you), but by that time it will be June/July already and most likely too late to accept offers from other schools :/ I went ahead and accepted the offer from UM with the hope that it will all work out in the end. Luckily I live in Miami already and Florida residents apparently get some kind of tuition discount. I still have to pay my own living expenses though...
  4. Thanks! Well I accepted my offer to UMiami. I have the choice between their MPH program and their MSPH program so I am still a bit undecided. The MSPH is more science and research based so I'm thinking that might be better for my future goals.
  5. As ridiculous as it is, I spoke to the guy today and he said that we will not receive our financial aid package until after we have accepted the offer of acceptance and registered for classes. Makes no sense to me. What if I accept the offer, decline my other cheaper offers, register for classes, get my financial aid package, then realize I can't afford it. I would be screwed!
  6. I'm sorry, but at $1790 per credit, 18 credits would cost around 32K. The total program is 45 credit. Without fees or living expenses or books included, tuition alone for the entire program will be over $80K. That is A LOT of money that most people don't have laying around.
  7. Hey, everyone. So I recently got accepted into UM and it is my dream school. Are there any current or admitted UM MPH students in here? My biggest issue is how I am going to pay for this degree. Current students, how are you paying the hefty price? Admitted students, how do you plan to pay?
  8. I don't know if this is still relevant, but I was a sub 3.0 applicant. (2.8 to be exact), with a sub par GRE (154V, 149Q). I got into three schools thus far and still waiting on 2 more, which at this point, I think I will be admitted to. I had great LORs, ECs, Research, Service Experience, SOP, and a good reason for the low GPA. All of these things factored together is what got me accepted, because I know for a fact that it wasn't my numbers. I was accepted into University of North Florida, Florida International University, and the big one University of Miami aka the Harvard of Florida (jk). So yeah all sub 3.0 people don't lose hope! I was shocked at my UM acceptance. Just play up your strengths and downplay the weaknesses.
  9. First off, may I just preface this by expressing how much I absolutely despise SOPHAS?! Okay well today they e-mailed me saying that my application was undelivered because I did not include all of the coursework in my coursework section, but when I went to check on this, I saw that I had in fact entered everything. Has his happened to anyone else before? Any ideas on what I should do? Of course I a going to call them ASAP, but I'd still like to know if anyone has gone through this. After all the money I spent, I would hate to have my application delayed because of THEIR mistake. At this point, time is of the essence.
  10. Sorry for asking so many questions, but I'm also very interested in prevention science and practice/cas in counseling, but is that program much more difficult to get into?
  11. Wow! Thank you so much for the link! I was looking for something like that. Anyway, so now I am considering three different majors: nursing, speech-language pathology, and human development. For the Harvard Ed.M I am interested in human development, mind brain, and language and lit. I just want to take the best path to lead me to where I want to go. I know that I want to work with children (I have been working and doing research with kids for 2 years and it is my passion). I also know that I would like to get into the healthcare sector, which is why I am considering nursing and speech therapy. The Ed.M degree could possibly lead me to counseling, which I would love. I'm just still uncertain of what I should be doing at this point. Oh well, I guess I will just choose the major that I like the most and hope for the best.
  12. 30-60% for HGSE?! Wow! That is very encouraging. Thanks a lot for your help!
  13. Thank you both so much for your advice! It is much appreciated! I also wanted to ask about the likelihood of getting in. I know that the Doctorate program is EXTREMELY selective, but I am not interested in it anyway (I really only want a masters). Is getting into the masters program equally as selective?
  14. Hi! I am currently a sophomore in undergraduate school (soon to be a junior come fall) and I am very interested in the HGSE Ed.M in Human Development and Psychology. Here is my issue: at my current school I am a child psychology major, however, I will be transferring in the fall to either NEU or BC (have not decided yet). If I choose NEU, I will be a nursing major and if I choose BC, I will be a human development and applied psychology major. Which one do you think would benefit me more for getting into my ideal program at HGSE for grad school? On the one hand I think that the HDAP program at BC would be beneficial for obvious reasons, but on the other hand, I am interested in childhood health education and I think that nursing might be a good background for me to have. If I have a nursing degree, will HGSE deny me thinking that I am not dedicated to education because I did not get an education undergraduate degree? I would like to enter grad school right after I finish undergrad. Thank you and sorry for the long post.
