  1. The email with the JOINid was only sent to students who were interested in housing at U of T, don't worry!
  2. I do not have my hopes very high for McGill, but MAN am I ever anxious for this next week to be over! I'm checking all the time!
  3. I can't imagine someone writing that without being sure you're getting in. Congrats
  4. Yeah, I think it's around March 15 or just after, whether or not you get accepted.
  5. OTs have a very similar outlook and pay to SLP. It is also really competitive, but I would say a bit less so than SLP, in some ways. I applied to 3 schools for SLP and 3 for OT. For those schools OT acceptance rates are like 6%-11% and SLP are 9%-13%. Despite that, it seems like lower GPAs are accepted for OT. McMaster did interviews last year for people over 3.5 GPA, I think. CDA is different. The job outlook is pretty good, but it isn't a nation-wide career yet. I don't think it's very common to see CDAs outside of Ontario and Alberta. They make around $20/hour. OT applications were due in January. I think some CDA programs are still open, but they've started acceptances already. And backups are great, but it's worth working on getting into SLP for a few years, if it's what you really want.
  6. Congrats Hopefully neither of us ends up there, but it's a nice feeling to get in!
  7. I got into both of my backup college programs! CDA and Autism and Behavioural Science. It's a nice confidence boost, and hopefully will help me get through the next month and a half a little easier
  8. Does anyone know if the programs value honours degrees a lot higher than general ones? I already have a general BA, and am enrolled in a second BA, this time an honours. I won't finish it this year, but found out that I can finish a general BA this year. I'd like to do this, because I think I'm done with undergrad regardless of if I get in this year, but I don't know if it will hurt my chance of getting in. I probably will just email my top choices and ask them, but I think they'll probably give me super vague answers.
  9. Mine too I figured that they might do that, but was hoping they wouldn't. It dropped mine .03
  10. Eeeee!! My McGill application changed to 'In Review'! ANXIETY
  11. I'm not sure if I'd actually go into the other programs or not, but I have applied for backups. I applied for occupational therapy and a few college programs, a CDA one and one for autism and behavioural science.
  12. Get them re-sent! It seems like most of the Ontario schools are accepting references/transcripts until the end of the month!
  13. One of my references was sick last week and didn't write my letter until like yesterday. I only spoke to U of T about it, but they said it was ok as long as it came in by the end of the month! So don't worry about that school, at least.
  14. Yeah, I recently saw that about Dal and have emailed them but haven't heard back. It's really frustrating, because that's where I want to go. My undergrad is from Dal, and that's where I want to live. Last time my sgpa was just under 3.7, but my profs thought I would still get in because all of my new grades, since my degree, (all but three as of last time) were As. They thought that schools would take into consideration that my grades improved so much after I decided to go into SLP. This time it'll be at least 3.8, so I've got a much better chance. Plus more volunteer and work experience in related areas. And better references. It's just hard to be positive about applications, but I'm just going to get them in and forget about it, haha. And have some backups.
  15. Mine is a little different, because I have a degree from 2008 and have been taking courses the last few years. I found out through this forum that not all of my newer courses might have been counted at Dal. So, that may have affected it. I emailed them about that today. I was told that it would look good that I have a degree, without great grades, but that once I decided I wanted to do SLP I got only As. And that I took a break and worked for a few years and then decided to go back to school for SLP. My subgpa was 3.68 last year. I had I think like 50 volunteer hours. I had at least one fantastic reference letter, from a prof who is also an SLP. I realize now that it wasn't an overly competitive application, but I had been told that I'd be a shoe-in. I was rejected from Dal for SLP and AUD and also McGill.
  16. Seriously Meggle, I'm not entirely sure that it wasn't me who wrote all of your posts. I didn't get in last year, after having profs and SLPs tell me that there was no chance I wouldn't. Not getting in discouraged me SO much. I'm giving it one more try. I have great grades, but I'm taking a few more courses this year to try to get it even higher. I volunteered more, I started working with a little girl with autism on her language 2 hours a week. I'm working on getting better reference letters, because I don't think one of mine was too good last time. I'm trying really hard to get volunteer hours at a psych lab at school, and I think I got a position that will be starting in a few weeks. I took some more pre-reqs, so I can apply to more schools this year, and some different programs. I SHOULD have re-done my GRE, but I just don't have time. I also know I should get different SLP volunteer hours, because I only have them with kids. It's exhausting. Being rejected is just exhausting. But if it's what you really want, you've gotta keep trying. I feel like this last year has just been a waste, and I just want to feel like I'm finally working towards something. I'm applying to U of T, Western, Dal and McGill for SLP, Dal for AUD, U of T for OT and, as a backup, St. Lawrence for CDA.
  17. That's what I heard too: Good afternoon Becky. Thank you for your email. I would like you to know that you should receive correspondence from our school's Admissions Secretary by the middle of April (April 15). Mark
  18. Rejection from McGill. They did send an email saying a significant decision was made.
  19. My McGill application is 'in review'. Preparing myself for a rejection.
  20. Don't worry girls! I spoke to the secretary at Dal today and he said that the reason mine said 'incomplete' was that you're allowed to have up to 4 recommendations and you only HAVE to have two. So it's fine if you only have two, but it's 'incomplete' if you don't have four. Hope you're all having some fantastic wine!!
  21. I like your style. This, plus my wedding next month, are really helping out the LCBO lately.
  22. Haha, ok, maybe...every day someone else gets accepted.
