  1. Well, if they say no keep pushing! Calling is often more effective. I just declined my offer so my scholarship of about a 1/3 tuition should be opening up for someone (or a spot off the waitlist) for Mt. Royal at least.
  2. How much? That's great, though!
  3. UCSC digital arts / new media MFA gives all admits a full ride plus TA stipend (guaranteed first year, second year contingent on obtaining a TAship yourself)
  4. Oh, because it's work study allotment at probably 8-10$/hr for 10-20/hr week. That's ridiculous! This isn't undergrad.
  5. Yeah, it unfortunately has nothing to do with how much they like (or don't!) your work... I too was admitted to Mt. Royal with 1/3 of tuition, and during my interview he said "well, I'm not supposed to tell you this but from the bottom of my heart I just have to let you know our funding is embarrassing, it's truly the one flaw of the program currently". The 800/mo for TAing is truly shocking though, Baltimore is cheap (easily find rent in the 3-400 range) but still, that's unlivable.
  6. What sort of fin aid/funding has SAIC offered folks (excluding those lucky ducks with the one full ride per dept)?
  7. Oh wow, Baltimore is fairly cheap as far as east coast cities are concerned, but 725 is unlivable! You'd have to get at least two and that would seriously eat into your own studio time if you could even secure multiple TAships in the first place. I'm sorry you didn't get a better offer for your dream school! Do you have other options at least? I'm certainly turning them down, so perhaps you can leverage for more money if you are explicit in your intentions to attend? I know there was a post a few pages back about someone getting double their initial award by leveraging with SFAI I believe it was...
  8. I feel you... They gave me a merit scholarship of 12300 renewable the second year (out of 42k tuition). Haven't recieved my financial aid packet yet, but I imagine it's just loans.
  9. Just received an acceptance notification for MICA Mt. Royal via phone! Chris Herring said my acceptance packet was mailed Friday (3/13). Very odd considering it was my worst interview, but I won't complain obviously!
  10. My interviewer told me outright at the end that MICA's funding is "embarrassing", at least for Mt. Royal though I can't imagine it differs much between schools. I.e., some for all, all for none -- you can expect 20-60% at best out of 45k. But most people get around 1/3rd of tuition I believe...
  11. I just received an official acceptance letter/package from them today with instructions to log into student information, email, etc. But nothing about scholarships or financial aid in it... I assume those are being sent out this week? Has anyone received anything official from CCA yet (I was sent an 'unofficial' email with my acceptance on Friday but no follow up yet)? Folks at UCSC visit day -- anything to report?
  12. I imagine they would call everyone today and tomorrow? So if no word yet, I'd wait another day before the panic sets in fully. These professors have a lot on their plates so I highly doubt they're making 15 phone calls all today (printmedia said they usually accept around 15 for the 8-10 spots as some will decline obviously). (did we meet at the graduate day on 2/28? I showed up in the afternoon though...)
  13. Just got a phone call from SAIC printmedia accepting me! Official email and info to follow. Said nothing about funding, however...
  14. When I asked in my interview my panel said we should hear this week or next if you're accepted (most likely a phone call, but could be an email). Otherwise, I believe rejections are sent out mid-late March...
  15. SOO happy for you! Congrats!!! (And even happier that it means you'll be rejecting UOregon and perhaps that'll give me an in... )
  16. Congrats!! No, I stalked the results search from last year (ha) and there are comments telling you what to do so I did a lil trial and error until I could log in
  17. Admitted to CCA fine arts! (No call or email yet. but you can check the status on webadvisor with the log in: cca___(your application # which is listed at the very bottom of most if not all school correspondence) password: your birthday (mmddyy), prospective students --> "admission status").
  18. Congrats! They aren't great, there are mentions of it in previous threads if you search this subforum for "cca". But I've heard their 'standard' package is around 15k (out of their 40-50k tuition, and the bay is insane to live in).
  19. I applied to heavily interdisc programs (background in book arts/printmaking), but as SAIC required a specific department I applied to the Printmedia and am interviewing with them this weekend.
  20. I just called the UO department phone number listed to ask if I should assume rejection at this point as I did not have an interview but all the person said "Well, I wouldn't assume anything" ??? So that's helpful?? Sorry, I will stop taking up space on this thread with my tiny Oregon tantrum -- it's just my first choice for many reasons so I want to be very, very certain of my rejection before I drown in a puddle of my own tears...
  21. Congrats! That's so amazing, thepictureisstill and laaru -- and likely points to an assumed rejection for me, I suppose. Sigh. Has either of your gradweb status changed? Mine still just says: Department Recommendation: Pending But maybe they notify rejection later than acceptances?
  22. Did you mean Heidi at Oregon or someone who also happens to be named Heidi in reference to the Pratt/CCA question ?
  23. I just interviewed with Mt. Royal as well -- I think it went fine, though I think my CCA one went far better as it was much more conversational and I could read the interviewer better, whereas this one was more formal and he didn't respond as visibly, was just generally very stoic about the whole thing until it was my turn to ask questions. But overall, it seems like a great program but he was very open at the end at the disappointing lack of funding available. I think at best you can expect 20-60% of tuition to be covered in an award, the rest you have to take out in loans basically. And with their nearly 50k/yr price tag, I don't think I can swing that kinda debt. But if anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer them! Hopefully SAIC goes better as it is my only in-person interview... Anyone have word from UOregon? I emailed asking where they were in their process and if you didn't get an interview if that means you're automatically rejected and it was forwarded to someone else than Heidi (the contact) but they haven't written back, alas...
  24. Can you ask for a third week? If they want you so badly they shouldn't have an issue with extending it by a week, right? And then at elast you might have an idea of how many other schools are interested in you and can gauge your options better? But if I were you and the school wasn't my total last choice, I think I would just accept it. You aren't going to get a BETTER deal anywhere else, just a comparable one. But it's more likely than not that this is the only fully funded with stipend offer you'll get at all considering how rare those are in the first place. Debt for an art career is financial suicide -- I would kill for that offer from a program!
  25. Should I assume that UOregon is a lost cause at this point? Has anyone else who declared digital arts and/or printmaking had their interviews? Their website makes it sound as if unless you are contacted for a phone interview you're out, but maybe I am misinterpreting that: Mid-January to Mid-February Phone interviews with finalists. The department will initiate contact with finalists only. Please do not contact the department to request an interview.
