MIIS Student Ambassador

I've heard that getting outcome stats is really difficult for schools because alumni have to self-report what they are doing! I'm at the Monterey Institute and I have a lot of friends in the IEP program. A few of whom are participating in the new Center for Blue Economy Fellowship program that offers paid internships, research assistanships, and an amazing network of professionals not only in ocean conservation, but in a number of other important areas. http://www.miis.edu/academics/researchcenters/blue-economy The IEP program has an excellent list that is a "snapshot" of what alumni are doing. It depends what your career goals are. Aside from the faculty and money, will you get the same kind of networks and connections at MIIS? I am a current student and recently went to a financial advising session that was really helpful. They said that by the end of your studies, on average students graduate with about $20k less than what you said, plus they often partake in a semester long internship during their final semester than turns into a contract or full time job. There is a lot to consider, but I recommend looking more long term than just at the short term wow factor of the money! At least that's what I did and I have to say, so far, it's completely worth it!

Hi MRAnderson, You definitely sound like a good candidate for the Monterey Institute! They take a portfolio approach to their applications and value good work and international experience, such as Peace Corps. She graduated from MIIS last year and is now helping prospective students going through the application process.
