  1. I have been accepted in Peace & Conflict Studies in UMASS and International Policy Studies in Monterey Institute of International Studies. UMASS provides research assistance ship (fully paid). It is a small program in UMASS. The faculty is okay but not as good as UMASS. Monterey Institute of International Studies: i have to borrow gov't loans so when I graduate I am looking into owing 80+ in gov't loans. The program is 2 semester longer. The faculty is better than UMASS. Which one would you choose?
  2. Why don't you all become reporters? You seem to know so much about how to be a good reporter, since you all have been criticizing heavily. Criticism does require extensive knowledge about a subject. Very embarrassing... Your examples are all pulled from the media itself, so this should be a clue as to how little you all know about being a reporter or media or journalism. May be you should re-think what you are really criticizing: The media or the reporters? I am very suprised to see so many ignorant people trying to become educators. You should have an open mind, may be at least an inch open.
  3. Wow, too much negativity.... Poor reporter. She/he is just trying to do his/her job, and found a creative way to reach her/his target. That is about it. sorry my two cents.
  4. I am trying to be optimistic but after 5 rejections and 1 waitlist, it is hard. The Grad Advisor told me that I am the top of their waiting lists (they have more than one, depending on the research interest). Yesterday I checked and they said I won't know until post April 15. have been crying. please someone reject!
  5. Is this hopefull? "I am writing concerning your application to the graduate program of the xxxxxxxxxx. We have now had the opportunity to review in detail your application, among about 220 applications to our graduate program. This was an intensive process, and I want to inform you that we are impressed with your application and it is still active. We are currently waiting decisions from some other applicants before we can make a final decision about yours. We wanted you to know the specific status of your application and hope you understand. We will contact you as soon as we are able to reach a final decision on your application."

  7. pikatopia: I am aware how agonizing the process is. Seems like you already withdrew your application from where you decided not to go and that is what I am talking about, so you did well
  8. Wickedcurves: I am a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan and yes, that is why Copperboom :)
  9. I sincerely hope that the applicants notify the schools of their decisions soon, so that the ones waitlisted won't develop further stress related symptoms (i.e., ulcer, anxiety). Seriously, if you know (for sure) you won't go to X school, please let them know so that they can notify the applicants who are waitlisted and currently aging from waiting  .
  10. Yay; i believe you asked this question. i believe UMass Amherst already sent out their initial offers and waiting feedback from those applicants to notify the ones on the waiting list. They haven't notifyied me but I called to find out. They are in fact nice, so I suggest that email to Dr. Carbough. He does respond within 5-6 hours
  11. As far as I know, they only accepted 4 people. This year is very hard, i believe for all schools
  12. Got rejected from ICR. Very nice. 2nd notice, 2nd rejection. 4 more to go
  13. I, personally, chose not to apply to any schools in the State of Florida; as they did not leave a very good impression on me. Not returning emails, having unrealistic exam score expectations, etc. So, long story short, I am not about Miami. I did not apply to Northwest but I am still pessimistic about my schools. I really hope to get the results this week. I know Pittsburgh is not announcing until the last week of March or beginning of April. At least that is what they told me. Good Luck
  14. Imleaving; I spoke with UCSB as well, the application decisions will be announced this week or next week. I am waiting on 5 schools and I called each one on Friday. They all gave me the same response: The announcements will be made within the next 2 weeks. I think we will learn this week or before they leave for the Spring Break ,the latest. After I heard that Northwest only accepted 4, my pessimism reached the ultimate high.
