  1. Its just that I didnt have enough time to respond to the questions and then review them back. I will probably start reading the IELTS rather the TOEFL since, as far as I heard, the IELTS are easier than the TOEFL
  2. I have taken a score of 85. 17 on the reading section, 22 at the listening, 24 speaking and 22 at the writing. The college I am interested in need at least 21 at each section and a cut off 90. I will probably do some lessons to increase my reading speed... Comments on that?
  3. hello guys I have taken the TOEFL scores and my results is 85. should I re-take the exam again or the university will look holistically my application? Btw my GPA is 3.751... What do I have to do?
  4. Im glad that there are others who feel the same way I do! Anyway... since USA is far more expensive than I could afford, I'll bet my chances in Ireland and Scotland since it seems that in England the prices are equally high with the states...
  5. Thats why I prefer to send my applications in Ireland and Scotland eventually! Why is still this process of having to take the GRE's ?Why isn't the 4 years holding my head over the tons of books to get a good grade not enough? And even so, must these exams be so god damn pain..? Why in UK is not a test such the GRE? And in UK and Ireland there are very good universities as well..
  6. hey! thanks for your replies! I certainly did not mean that Ireland is in the UK because I know that very well. The reason that I finally wont reply to the states is that is very expensive for me, and I prefer somewhere closer to my country. I really like Irelands bcz I visited it and I like the energy of Dublin and the power of Trinity College.. I dont want to study for post graduate studies in Cyprus because a different approach to Psychology abroad and I believe I will get a better experience and education abroad.. I would like to go to Scotland for a neuropsychology M.Sc but it is only one year and there is not any practicum there.. I prefer Scotland again for financial reasons, and Ediburgh and Glasgow are on my mind for neuropsychology.. any comments on that ?
  7. Thanks a lot Ennue! I was living for a month in a village in Ireland in Rathcoole if you know where this is.. It was simply magical! and the city.. inspiring and full of energy! Trinity college is a very nice school full of history and academic strength..
  8. Indeed there are . Financially a US university is more expensive that a European, and furthermore am an only child, and my parents are divorsed and im still living with my mother.. I think that are some ways to consider if i eventually must choose USA or Europe.. Thanks anyway Jeffster! It was a very nice discussion we had !
  9. Ok.. What are your comments on the ratings of certain programs across the globe? Lets say, psychology is ranked at the top 50 best programs done from the Trinity college in Dublin, Ireland and some other universities such as the university of Arizona or U of Connecticut are ranked very low on the rating matrix. Wouldn't the people who have not heard a lot about Trinity get a slight better information about other schools who are high in their ranking but not very used in people's ears yet? I mean is better to attend a college which offers good quality in that area, than attend a college in the states where everybody knows, right? Such as the colleges mentioned above...
  10. Is anybody studying psychology in this college? Since is the top 10 in Europe and top 50 in the world i would like somebody's opinion because Im might apply to study there for clinical psychology...
  11. Hmm.. Since in the states there is an issue with the student visa of international students then, based on your enquiry, is better to study in Europe since Im planning to work and stay in Europe...
  12. Hey Guys. This questions has been in my mind for some time now. I know that in the States, there is more emphasis on clinical practice and they are more focused on dealing with clients. Moreover, they have a better structured program in psychology that gives the chance to have more experience with clients and to have a better communication with the professors. In contrast, in UK, there is a more emphasis in research and less chances to get more hours with clients. Im interested in Neuropsychology, and in the states I found many very good universities that have this specialization and they offer practicum on that but in the UK its different. They give more weight on the research part. The thing is that in UK is cheaper and somehow easier to get in because they don't expect to take the GRE's. More specifically im thinking about Ireland. They offer 1 year masters, then 3 years a ph.D and then I found a one year masters for a specialization in Neuropsychology. Since is cheaper and more convenient to travel there do you guys thing is a better idea to study there rather in the States? Why is the so major difference in the education in the states in comparison with UK after all?
  13. Thanks for your encouragement I will try to do my best in these exams. But if things go wrong with the exams then im considering to shoot for Europe, particularly Ireland. Any comments on that?
  14. Hey guys. I have a question about the gre's. If I do a masters in general psychology in the UK where they are for only one year, will it be a good idea in order to apply for a ph.d in clinical later on? I am planning to go to the states for a ph.d but if things dont go well i am planning to do a masters for a year in the UK and then reapply again. therefore i will have more chances to get accepted if my GRE scores are not high. But there is a downfall in this idea. Because I would like to go for a fullbright, if I do a masters abroad i wont be eligible for a fulbright scholarship. I hope the assistantships will be somehow enough to cover the tuition. Is it a good idea to do a masters and then reapply for a ph.d in clinical?
  15. hey guys. I am a psychology student and i've just finished the B.S in Psychology. I am planning to go to the states for a ph.d in clinical but i know that its extremely difficult. I will do a gap year to gather some money and then shoot my applications in the states. The thing that bothers me is that i know that i will not do well in the gre test. I am will sit the TOEFL in two days. I am planning to retake the GRE's later again but if my scores are not higher what do i do then? I ws thinking to applay for a one year masters in UK to increase my chances to get accepted in the states. But WHY must the universities take so much care for the GRE if somebody's GPA is high in a degree and let say a masters? WHY must the GRE me the most important factor for a consideration into getting accepted in the states?
