  1. I just came across this on the Michigan State website. Of course the timing refers to the normal FH cycle, not the peculiar timing for this year: (It's from http://www.isp.msu.e...a_deadlines.htm) November-December Review of the Fulbright-Hays DDRA applications by multidisciplinary review committees convened in the United States by the Fulbright-Hays DDRA Program to screen applicants and recommend candidates. January-March Review of the Fulbright-Hays DDRA recommended candidates by Fulbright Binational Commissions or by the Public Affairs Section of U.S. Embassy abroad, together with prospective host institutions. March-April Results of the national international Fulbright-Hays DDRA screenings are forwarded to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. May-June Review and official selection of award winners by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
  2. Who are all of you rascals who are looking at this thread but not sharing info/anxiety? Shame on you.
  3. Hey archnerd, thanks for popping in, I was getting lonely. As far as a I can tell, that two step process applies to Fulbright but not sure about Fulbright-Hays. I can't really find any info about about FH, how the applications get processed, etc. online. Have you found anything?
  4. OK, so the report is that there won't be news until September. That hasn't stopped me from already starting to keep an eye out. Aren't there any other applicants here??? I'd like to have someone to worry with.
  5. Well first of all I have to apologize for not thanking you both sooner for your advice. But, belatedly; thank you for the excellent suggestions and observations. (I've been too busy having a nervous breakdown to behave like a civilized person.) I must say that the ABDs I asked about their exams/exam prep were kind of vague in their responses. As I go along I'm learning that professors have such completely different approaches to exams that it is hard to make any generalizations. Primarily, it seems as though eveyone wants to leave you in the dark about what to expect and how to prepare. Is it some kind of a conspiracy??? I've settled on outlining essays and making cards to memorize lit and my essay outlines - we'll see if it works. Sigaba, I really appreciate your suggestions about the practicalities of the exam (room, computer, etc.); those are the types of things that it is easy to overlook, but that can make a significant difference in the exam experience. Again, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
  6. This is a difficult situation indeed. I'm sure someone with a lot more experience than I will step in here and give you advice. But in the meantime, have you checked to see if it is even possible to change committee members at this point? Haven't you already filed paperwork with your department naming your committee?
  7. Thank you for the response, Sigaba. I already have sets of exam questions; not "the" questions, of course, but questions that cover the material I will need to know. But I find that I just keep copying the same notes, information, and sources in different places. It seems that there must be a better way of unifying the information and making it readily accessible for review, but I have not figured out a way to do this...
  8. Anyone with advice for organizing info while studying for comp exams? What worked for you? Just notes on the computer? 3 X 5 cards taped all over the walls??? All suggestions welcomed, I'm feeling overwhelmed.
  9. Thank you for sharing this information!
  10. Did you hear that from the D of E, or from someone at your school? I was wildly guessing that it would be in August. This is because I was told recipients have to jump through a lot of (time-consuming) hoops in order to get travel clearance, and the research period starts October 1st. If you have any more information, I would be very happy to hear it...
  11. Well, it looks like nobody has started discussing the reinstated FH yet... Does anyone have a clue about when the results will be announced?
